Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

ummm, perhaps - but again it just does not tell the story at all because if it did, Man U and Chelsea would have finished the top 2 the last few years surely??

Liverpools total transfer costs are, if we were to look into it, completely dwarfed by theirs and yet here we are.

That’s not how it works for correlations and trends though.

Wages are correlated with league position, that doesn’t mean there aren’t outliers

I agree but he's no longer making the England squad and there is a world cup next year. West Ham are holding him back big time. Surprised he hasn't tried forcing a move like Rice did. Kudus is desperate to leave! Have to admire Bowen's loyalty to some extent.

That's all well and good, but he'd piss off his employers, wife, father in law, kids and tens of thousands of fans.
He ain't signing for Spurs.
He'd have a pick of clubs and he wouldn't dare to pick us.

The new deal he signed was only 3.5 years (to age 27) and got him to 100k/wk, and he's won Palace's first ever trophy and broken into the England team during that time, plus several clubs are now circling looking to activate that very clause.

I'd say Eze and his representation have done rather well.

Again, the contrasting situation that started this discussion was a 25 year old Kane signing a SIX-year deal with NO release clause with Daniel Levy at the beginning of a window in which Levy would self-impose a transfer embargo on the club. Now THAT was an agent making a mistake.

If Kane had signed Eze's deal in that moment he'd have been at Real Madrid before Covid hit.

100k pw for Eze is not great, and if he’d forced a move, or run the previous contract down there’s very chance he’d have been earning double that the last two years and playing for a club also challenging for trophies. By all means have a release clause, but not the one lump clause. It takes all control out of Eze’s hands.

Agree to disagree I guess.
