Starting to think so.
Could have gone for both if we didn’t spend over £40M on Tel. That is the sort of thing big clubs would do.
for me rather not Semenyo at all everCould have gone for both if we didn’t spend over £40M on Tel. That is the sort of thing big clubs would do.
We could have gone for exe and made a big down payment of say £50M using the money spent on Tel. This is thing people say Tel is good prospect and has potential although we haven’t seen any eveidence of it. Yet moan that we don’t go for players like eze. If we made bette choices on how we spend our money then we could get players like eze, Simmons, Brian, etc. but no we need Tel abd he will come good. We know what our owners are like so when we spend money we should be smarter. I’d much rather have eze than Wilson and Tel. We have other young players any ways. When I say Eze's deal, I mean Eze's deal. 68M.
Levy might never have agreed to that, but the point is that in having a release clause that's remotely feasible in a deal of a conservative length, Eze has maintained some degree of control of his destiny, I disagree that it's some foolish and naive agreement for him to have signed, he's done quite well.
I’m just using them as an example we could go for eze and Brian then
Agree - less so. But he can’t moveWill centre back pace be that vital if we’re not playing kamikaze ball and the associated high line?
Positional awareness more important I’d have thought.
Agree, Eze is never going to flop. It’s low risk at a premium price. Pay itWe could have gone for exe and made a big down payment of say £50M using the money spent on Tel. We also have Josh who looks better than the others but will no doubt be sold. No wonder are Club trained quota is shite as we never give them a pathway to first team. It’s always blocked by some young player from somewhere who just bco we have paid money for them automatically makes them better than our own.

Purchased via the political madness of our tyrannical exec board and the culture of fear that drives staff to push for foreign stars, so they can take the acclaimWe also have Josh who looks better than the others but will no doubt be sold. I'd take an established #6 to replace Biss, and complement Bentancur or Bergwall, to allow Gray to get eased into the role longer term ...Yep, if all we did this window was a good ball playing No 6, Mbeuemo and Eze/Simons i'd bite your hand off. Would happily make do elsewhere. We'll be lucky to get 1 of that quality.
This Summer, I think we might be pleasantly surprised for once...Suppose it doesn't matter really as we're not paying 70 million plus wages
We haven’t but you know what I mean. That’s why every summer we are sniffing around KWP. What happened to the other FB abbot is it abd also cerkin or whatever his name is?Name the last time we bought back one of our academy players.....?
Can we not do better?KWP on a free gives us an extra CL player. 4th choice FB, can play either side. No brainer.
Tonnes of CBs who weren’t fast had amazing careers - Puyol, Terry, Adams, etc. if he can be as dominant in the air and duels in the PL as he has been so far in his career and you pair him with someone like VDV then you have a proper defence.Agree - less so. But he can’t move
Early days, he’s clearly miles ahead of most top academy talents of the same age but watched and thought oof, that’s an issue
Yes abd then use that money what £100M on those 3 to buy real quality players.Purchased via the political madness of our tyrannical exec board and the culture of fear that drives staff to push for foreign stars, so they can take the acclaim
Moore, Devine and Keely over shite like Tel, Odobert and Kinsky
Not if we don’t want to have a CL squad three players short.
Loan with BM paying towards wages? He's on 192k a week at Bayern and he ain't taking a paycut to join us. If we don't offer him 200k a week then he's not an option for us.
they don’t waste lots of money on young players who some keep saying ‘there is a player in there somewhere’Mate, I manage and analyse data professionally.... so let’s clear this up now: statistical analysis is not pure objectivity. It’s shaped by the framing, the variables you choose and the comparisons you make, and the assumptions you build in. You’re misusing the concept to shut down debate because you have lost all bearing and have nothing else to add.
Now, to break down the gaslighting, flip-flopping, and misdirection happening here:
My original point—Liverpool won the league without buying elite players on elite wages—is factual, not subjective.
You jumped in claiming Salah and Alisson were bought on elite wages. That’s provably false.
Then you pivoted to total transfer cost....but only once the wage angle stopped working.
Then back to wages.
Then back to the transfer cost again.
When that didn’t land, you pivoted to tone, hilariously implying I don’t “get” how this type of debate works. But all that really shows is that you’ve run out of ground and are leaning on condescension.
You invoked a general statistical trend about wages correlating with league position something which I never denied.... I said it’s not the full story, especially at the top. And the fact that Liverpool outperformed clubs with vastly bigger wage bills - 4 of them actually - supports that. That’s not me ignoring data. That’s me understanding it in context.....which you’ve refused to do from the start.
I see your game, my friend. I spend much of my day debating far more in-depth data than this with far smarter people than you.
SellThing is that Spurs already have a 10 in Maddison, and Kulu can also play there (maybe Bergvall as well) ...and Maddison has proven himself at Spurs already (albeit he's been a bit inconsistent)...
