Rejoice...the oracle on SC has spoken...

Hercules SC
“Of every hundred men ten shouldn’t even be there, eighty are nothing but targets, nine are real fighters we are lucky to have them they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one of them is a warrior, and he will bring the others back.”

The guy who has the literacy level of a springer spaniel is now suddenly aristotle

Surely he can ring his own chairman and tell him to pay us the money if he wants Romero that badly.
Romero won’t buy into Frank at all. Imperative he’s sold before he returns for pre season as he will undermine Frank, real culture clash that. Frank is a good mgr but not for the pull for stellar players, he’s perfect for West Ham, BHA, Fulham level which is exactly where our ambition as club sits. Average, mid table club with zero ambition, our USP is the wealthy fan base as without that, we are the level of those three under ENIC

Happy to sell if someone pays up, we shouldn't be selling below his value just because he wants to leave, that's not how it works - we're not some fucking cuck club and should accept stupid money just because a player is throwing his toys out the pram.

Also Romero better lock in this season, World Cup year and all that, can't afford to be finding himself on the bench when he's pulling in half arsed performances when he needs to play to get rhythm for his NT.

Sometimes you gotta set the manager up for success and that means moving Romero on. One bad apple will split this dressing room and see the manic, skinny Norsk undermined and on his own. Get the deal done

Bloody hell. Is this what people pay all that money for?

Oh right, thanks for that.

If an acceptable bid comes in yes, other than that you can't let players dictate their price tags and when they want to leave the club, he's got to suck it up.

And let's be real he may be indulged and have a big ego but he's hardly Joey Barton, how in God's name can a player like him split the dressing room lol

He has a year left on his contract with Sunderland. Transfer market has him at €8M. They notoriously undervalue but, even if his value was double that, with just a year left, I doubt he'd cost too much more than the release clause was valued at, and he's had a further year of Championship Football where, by all accounts, he's really grown as a Footballer. Had we exercised the clause, it's debatable whether he'd have had the same sort of growth with us or out on loan.
Well I mean we could have activated the 6m clause (like any club would have) and then loaned him out to Sunderland or anyone else.

Why would Romero be a bad apple?

Also, setting a Spurs manager up for success NEVER involves selling your best players because you already know there is zero chance they will be replaced with a similar quality of player.

If we sell Romero it will be an overpriced mid wage type like Branthwaite who can’t even get in the England team or a punt from Europe that might reach his level in 2-3 seasons

Sorry, but that isn’t setting Frank up to succeed

You are correct...to an extent.

But the key is, does he really wants to stay here ? We dont want to sell our best players but at same time, we should not keep a player who doesnt want to stay.

Romero is not a bad apple...in a world cup next summer, how confident are we that Romero is going to give his all or take it easy and not go that extra to play for us and protect himself for country ? In past, numerous times, he has done this...to put country first over club.

I would love to keep Romero and make him even club captain, IF he signs a new deal. But if he says no or drags his feet, its better to sell him now and get a option who will commit 100% for club.

Ideally if we sell Romero for 50m or 60m, I hope we go get a Tapsoba

Nicolas Jackson anyone for 45m?
Yes please say I!

We won’t get Tapsoba

We have never replaced an elite player that we’ve sold with a similar level.

If Romero really wants to ruin his legacy at the club after wining the EL and decides to kick up a stink, maybe don’t turn up for pre season, then yeah you look to take 60m.

Most likely is he turns up and wants to be in his best shape for the World Cup this summer

Just in order of fairness, Hercules didn't post this. Another poster was quoting Hericletus

It would be good but he is a number 10, not really a winger, we also have Maddison, Kulusevski and maybe Donley so his signings would suggest we are going to play maybe two number 10’s. Palace do it currently a bit under Glasner.

He's better than all of them though.

Personally, I think him attacking the space off the left is a brilliant position for him. So many of the goals he scores are peak Sonny.
