Yeah the Norgaard signing makes sense if he's just coming in to replace Bissouma while we also go and sign another CDM. My concern is if Norgaard is our only CM signing which feels very possible. Then we'll be weak next year as its debatable if Norgaard is even an upgrade on Bissouma.

Bissouma is very inconsistent - I'd guess 25% of his performances are rated as 3/10, 40% of his performances as 5/10, 20% of his performances 6 or 7 out of 10 and only 10% of his performances as top performances. Or something like that

So Norgaard probably a big upgrade if he's averaging 6 or 7 out of 10 with a few top performances next season 25/26.

And meanwhile Gray, maybe Begvall and Abbott are learning he no 6 role to become the main man in 26/27 or 27/28, but back up this season.

He’s not a plodder in any way. He gets about the pitch, good on the ball and is dangerous at set pieces. He was easily the best player on the pitch when England played Denmark in last years Euros. He’s a player who doesn’t get the credit he deserves and always thought he was the glue in Brentford’s side. We don’t need superstars in that position, just good footballers that can do both sides of the game and is consistent in his performances and fit the majority of games.

Sounds promising

Not sure I agree that we don’t need stars in that position.

Rodri won Ballon d’or in that position. Vitinha won PSG the CL in that position…

The best teams have their best players in that position imo.

Belgium pro league is rated as higher than Championship which in turn is about 7th highest in the world/europe.

Top 20 leagues world wide

1) English Premier League
8) Belgian Pro League
11) English Championship

Australia, Japan nor Scotland make the list. Ahead of them are such football giants as the Polish league, Spanish, German and Italian 2nd divisions, Mexican, Brazilian and Czech Leagues.

For reference.
17) SPL
25) Japan
38) A-League

There should be rules about making a jump from 25 - 17 - 1
It's just ridiculous.

Most of this forum only makes sense as a crowd of medieval peasants.

I’d say Bissouma is one of my biggest disappointments , I thought he would be the dembele replacement, every time we played Brighton he was the stand out player but we got the worst version of him , almost like he’d got his big contract and completely lost interest . Not sure he’s played 10 good games for us and the amount of brain fart moments are endless . I was so angry with Conte for not playing him but it’s been totally justified .

I don't know what constitutes a statement signing for us anymore.

It certainly isn't whoever United have bought or who they are seeking to buy in this window thus far, but I'm actually lost for who we might buy, who we as fans would say, Let's Go.

Eze's good (I think better than Mbuemo) but in the top 5 midfielders in the PL? Not sure..

It's a real struggle, so arguably we just want to have a better standard of overall squad, without that star player.

We are a million miles away from having a Bale, Modric, Kane, Dembele, or Eriksen that's for sure.

A ready made player who has performed consistently for a number of seasons in a top 5 European League.
Eze then.
Mbuemo is good, but hasn't done it for as long as Eze.

I'd love us to go a bit nuts and get Lautaro Martinez. That would be a statement of intent.

Norgaard is 31 and its debatable if he's even an upgrade on Bissouma. He's more consistent and has a much higher floor but the Bissouma we saw at Brighton was better than the Norgaard we saw at Brentford.

I like Norgaard and always thought he was a bit underrated. He definitely would do a job for us next season but its a short term fix and very underwhelming. Bissouma on a going day is just as good as him if not better! But because Bissouma is usually out of form, Norgaard would be a small upgrade.

I get the no to Norgaard. I am fine with that decision
But , I am not having Bissouma any more. He is such a casual footballer in the squad. He has so much potential but he has been wasting it for years. Hope he is sold this window and we move on to better players

This is what Levy actually said - the message is exactly the same, the words slightly different:

“When you are involved in football … we all want to win, not everyone can win. It is very, very difficult … All we can do is give the manager the best players that we can afford.”

Ahh so you're telling me he didn't actually say "winning is hard" and the context of his actual quote was totally removed from it, purely to spin a narrative, well I never :conteshock:
