Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

I mean the response is clear but it doesn't make much sense or perhaps you haven't really thought about it.

So what you're saying is that he will be a luxury player?

Fuck the wants and needs of the team and just play him because he's good, that's it?
yes. we have space and need to carry such a player. and he won't just be a passenger. he's strong, athletic and talented and will move the needle for us and change the balance of games. as others have said, he's more versatile than he's given credit for and will plug in across the pitch in our attack. i think he's a much bigger addition than a more narrowly skilled winger

Again, I'm not outright arguing against that, I definitely think it can be improved. I'm just not convinced yet that it won't be better with a better structure for it to work from.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting that a better structure will suddenly turn our midfield into a unit that can match those challenging for the top spots, but I do think it will perform a lot better than it did under AP.

The hinge on which all of this turns, maybe even transfers, is how Son fits into Frank's plans. Does he still rate him? Is he going to see a reduced role? Is his spot unquestioned?

If Frank plays with a midfield 3 like he did at Brentford I don't see where he fits in, he's not an 8. Bentancur and Bergvall are better 8's than him, perhaps play as a no10 but he's not a natural 10, he doesn't have a range of pass - he's more of a ball carrier but then Maddison is a better 10 than he is as well.

Pointless playing him as a winger as he's not even quick and he'll always come in field as that his natural game, I find the shouts of playing him on the right weird because I don't think he's ever played there.

Inside forward is where he comes alive or perhaps playing him off a striker?

Dunno seems like a weird fit and I think Spurs fans are just desperate to get him in without even thinking about how he'd fit in the team. Anyway I'm not totally against it, I will be disappointed if he's our marquee signing though and we sign a load of duds in positions we need to fill.

Hopefully I am not left staggered. Frank also needs signings that show the board is not simply expecting coaching miracles.

Make our resources better but also here are some quality additions to ease the process.

A load more kids and second rate acquisitions is not an option.
Agreed. Bring in Eze for the additional creativity and a good 6, then I think our midfield has real depth.
I understand what a few are saying about our right side, but I do think that Johnson can and will be utilised as a push and run winger, whilst we also have both Odobert and Tel who can be used out there, as they're both 2 footed. Then we also have Kulusevski.

I think that with a couple of very good additions to our midfield, we then have a solid setup to build from, particularly if the additional young talent we have in Bergvall, Gray and Sarr start to hit their straps.

We won't be title challengers next season, but we'll have a squad that should improve significantly, IMO, over the next 2-3 seasons. If we keep adding improvements over that time, I don't see any reason why we can't get back to where we were under prime Poch.

Frank is the type of manager that adapts his system/thinking to the players he has at his disposal, not the type of manager that try's to fit players into a tried and tested system(s).

Because I’ve seen content where Frank says he loves that cross from that inverted winger half space and Kulusevski with his left foot is outstanding at that cross

Basically just that but the 10 Frank used was Damsgaard and Eriksen who is more like Maddison

Also see Frank wanting to get Porro up the field more. Kulu with the license to cut inside allows Porro to overlap on the right wing.

I'd bet Kulu also gets a fair bit of looks in the #10 spot since Damsgaar covered some of the most ground in the league last season. Appears that Frank gives his #10 the ability to roam but also press hard.
