Very sensible post.TBH I would have been fine if the club sold him when we were linked with Xavi.
Would be silly to move him on from a manager who has been chasing him and now gets to use him.

God I really have to sit down, I actually agree with what you say.Half the 'fans' shitting on him are idiots who think he should be bombing it down the wings Bale-style, taking on and dribbling past 3-4 players.
He did what he was supposed to do in the system we were using last season, simple as that. I look forward to seeing how Frank uses him.
I think he'd come. He's not starting for any other big 6 team atm. He's not yet ahead of Caicedo, Gravenberch, Bruno G,Rodri or Zubemendi. He has the ability to be better than most of these bar Rodri but he's not there yet! We are the only CL team in England that he'd be guaranteed to be a regular starter for.
We can sell him the dream of Bayern/Real Madrid - 2-3 decent seasons for us and he can go to a European giant and win CL titles. Meanwhile he can stay in London, play CL football, earn a fortune, keep getting picked for England and have chance of winning trophies. Why he's coming to Spurs when he's destined for bigger things?
I rate Wharton really highly but he's not there yet and Palace will struggle next year balancing Europe. They'll finish midtable at best and I can't see them winning Europa. I don't think Wharton will be desperate to leave but there is no way he'd say no to a move if an offer came. That's if he wants to move at this very moment, I doubt he does when he's flourishing under Glasner.
He maybe not now but he will be, he's a Real Madrid/City level player.
Wouldn't surprise me if City move for him when they move Rodri on, not saying he's the same level atm but he has very high potential.

'The BJ Appreciation Club' works though
So you think he just stays at Palace until Liverpool or City come in for him? I think you are really underplaying the difference between Crystal Palace and Spurs. His career could stagnate at Palace very quicklyWhat if he doesn't want to ply abroad and wants to stay in England?

This idea that Adam Wharton is already above us is just wrong. He might turn into a Man City / Real Madrid type player but he's a few years away from that and we'd be an ideal stepping stone if he's good enough to make the step. Ideally we'd be competing with them teams and he'd never want to leave but that is just me being hopeful rather than realistic.

The FA cup performances is what rised his stock. He was the best player on the pitch against Villa in the semi final. I just think a midtable season without any cup success has the potential to stagnate him. He'd be perfect at Spurs. We are crying out for a player like that. I get your concerns re-Archie Gray. Maybe we should just do the rebuild right and allow these young players time to step up. Short term pain for long term gain. But if we were serious about trying to challenge in the next few seasons than signing Wharton would parachute us into the equation! He's literally the exact type of player we are missing in midfield. He would solve so many problems. They finished mid table this season and his stock went up.
Look we can obviously attract a player like Adam Wharton but I think sometimes fans are a tad delusional, get into the players head - if his stock is generally on the rise and he has high potential then Tottenham isn't going to be a wise career move, we need to get realistic, the ship has sailed on that one.
Besides all that what's the point in investing in Archie Gray for £40m if you're gonna just turn your back on him after a season of turmoil, that's literally why we have a coach and a coaching team, to get the best out of players like these.

Yes, no need for arguably the best striker in Europe last season.

Well that's a big fat fuck you isn't it, would be perfect for what we need and were we are squad wise
No striker playing in Portugal can be called "the best striker in Europe". It is a pub league through and through and a totally different intensity to the Premier League.Yes, no need for arguably the best striker in Europe last season.
Our 38 goals in 7 PL season’s striker is perfectly fine.
I thought it was the clubs and their data led approach that decided who they bought at clubs like Brentford & Brighton not the head coach?Wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Johnson now that we have Frank, he wanted Johnson for ages.
