Player Archie Gray

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He may turn out to be decent but that's no t his problem.
It's the fact that he blocked a proper midfielder coming in.
So blame either the fat freak or tight purse it's not Archie's fault.

Should we be worried he is not making the starting line-ups for U21 games?
Bench again tonight.
Nah we shouldn't be worried about that tbh.

What we should be worried about is that we spent 35m on him and he doesn't actually appear to be good or have a high ceiling. Let's see, maybe with Frank we can see something but his appearances in midfield for us was something we could have got a U16 player to produce, he was lost and never in position.

He will probably need a loan to a lower PL side. A year playing out of position constantly for a daft manager like Ange set him back massively, he didn't develop at all last season. We saw when he played in midfield towards the end of the season that he had no idea what he was doing and his football brain was completely frazzled from playing RB/LB/CB in a chaotic system.

He needs a solid season playing in his midfield position against PL players. Not minutes in Carabao cup matches against minnows.

God, the "anything that goes wrong is Ange's fault" shit next year is going to be SO annoying.

He has a precocious ahead-of-his-years ability to get managers to trust him not to fuck up when being thrown in at multiple positions.

But returning that kind of value (and it was 40M) takes a lot more than "don't fuck up".

Quite; but returning that value generally doesn't happen with a 18 year old in their first season either.

The sad truth is; the way HG player costs are spiralling, so long as he develops into a player worthy of CL game-time then he'll have paid off in the long-run.

This is based on his playing in Anges system without our best players around him?

Did you watch how well he did in the final when he came on against Fernandez?

Football accountants innit.

If he plays well then he does, I don't give a rats monkeys brain how much a player costs - I don't put a players price tag over their head, just how they perform.

Probably because he was 18 and playing for an amateur hack of a manager.

Hard to judge anyone based on how they looked under Ange. Neigh on impossible to judge someone as young and inexperienced as Gray.

I see a lot of potential quality in his control, passing, and vision. He has dribbling quality but I'm not sure he'll ever drive the ball forward (but he's also obviously not an 8).

My concern with him is if he's defensively up to par for the 6 position. He has time to show and learn it thankfully.

If we do get a vet 6, he would do well with a PL loan.
