Tony Hibbert and Owen Hargreaves on vet minimum, pay-as-you-play deals.

Karel Eerme, the 21yo Estonian superstar, 3rd highest goalscorer in the Meistriliiga. 2k pw would seal the deal.

China's captain so we complete the golden Asian triangle.

Then we're doing the double for sure.

I wonder what the PSR & WTR trophies look like?🤔
We are serial winners of the last two trophies.
In fact, club has won it so many times, they are going to give them to us and make new ones.

Quite a bit of money spent and we could still easily replace half the team.
Well I guess the point is it's not that easy to replace half the team.

The lion's share of the money went to Bentancur, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Johnson, Vicario, Dragusin, Solanke and Danso. That's a group of worthwhile PL players in arguably every case, I'd rate a couple of them as top players personally, but collectively there's just a slightly flawed, low-ceiling, 8th place-y feeling about that as a squad core, with us relying on the magic development of kids to elevate the team. I think that's where the frustration comes.

Yet it's also a dramatically better situation than spending big sums on Ndombele and Lo Celso and Sessegnon and Doherty and Reguilon, etc etc etc. Those are much bigger, more harmful and more expensive problems because of how poor they are on the field and how difficult it is to move them.

Don't worry about the Brown nosed Toad, he's just "toadying up" to the cadre.

A while back he was giving up the biggun about how he'd 'love' to meet me face to face to tell me what he thought of me, so I sent him a PM, telling him where I live so he could do just that. Unsurprisingly, I got no reply.

I left it at that and haven't responded to a single post he's made but, in true keyboard warrior style, he still has to get his sly little digs in, craving approval from his imaginary friends.

The irony here is that he's the most obnoxious poster on here with anyone who disagrees with him, all to get a few ticks from them.

A true Brown nosed Toad.

Haha that guy Jaynola is an absolute melt, typical Internet hard man

Looks like we are fucking about again in terms of loosing out on players. Worry is we got champions league football this season that could be short and not sweet. Can't understand why business is not being done early. The Thomas frank manager deal was done before the Europa final in my opinion we know where we needed to strengthen and add. All the talk seems to be about is our good players leaving and players we are linked with joining united and other clubs. Eze will be fantastic for the shit down the road and it will be an embarrassment if he joins them. We need quality players in fast I can't be dealing with all the talk about our young players again on TV.

I think levys recent statement perhaps, had some thinking the club might invest a bit heavier.
Instead, they look poorer than they ever have, it can't have been a surprise surely?
This club isn't prepared to compete at tbe top. Frank's appointment shows us the clubs thinking, which is, give him a kindergarten and see if he can polish one or two up.
We have, tbe training ground and the stadium, we don't have the players or the desire to go further forward.

FWIW I’ve never been convinced we’d sign Eze or similar just because of levy”s statement after the financial results. That was the real him, not the PR puff piece with the new gooner.

Yeah, forgive me if I got the dates wrong, the 18 month period after The CL final when Levy didn't spend a bean in the transfer market. Unforgivable!
But we have spent money, just not on the calibre of player needed to become EPL champions, I suspect mainly due to those type of players wage demands. But we came close on a couple of occasions regardless. After coming so close to The EPL title and CL trophy with this blue-print, Levy will continue to chase the dream on a budget, relatively speaking. Lets be honest if you are serious about winning either of those comps, you don't spend over 100m on Solanke and Johnson, but we did.
Point! We spend money but at tier 2 level keeping our fingers crossed we will see a minor miracle.
Bouncing around the top 6, having a good run in both domestic cups, maybe once in 5-6 years going all the way to the final of either, is all as Spurs fans we can hope for, regardless of what our chairman spews out!
The sooner we understand and accept this, the less frustrated and deluded our lives will be.

Not quite right on dates.

Our CL final in May 2019, our transfer window horribilis was summer 2018 getting in Ndomble, Lo Celso, Sessegnon and Clarke - the last we got £3m odd back from his £12m fee, the others we had to either pay to go away, received back about 10% of his purchase fee or released player at end of contract. Wasted £150m plus a shedload of wages costing about another £100m.

2018 Poch had his heart set on Frenkie de Jong at Ajax, but de Jong didn't want Spurs and waited to go to Barcelona. And Poch had no alternate lined up Frenkie de Jong admits he nearly joined Tottenham before Barcelona move

2016-18 was the disastrous period when best purchases were probably Moura and Sanchez, but neither really cementing a first team starter position although both played. That was the era of N'Jie and N'otagain

The summer before with a more professional set up saw us bring in Alderweireld, Son and Dele. Clearly a decent window

You think having a gooner mate is bad!

My son-in-law to be is a gooner. I gave my daughter two instructions on dating - make sure they are a decent lad and no gooners! She obviously didn’t read the second part of the memo! The penny dropped the other day that my first grandchild is going to be a gooner!

However, when I’m babysitting I’ll be sending them home in a Spurs babygro!

Wasn't 18 months - Moura was signed in 17/18 January window. It was just the one season. I've heard "18 months" and "2 seasons" that has become a weird urban legend. It was Poch who didn't want to spend though, confirmed through a few sources but most recently by Pleat.

Spending over £50m each on two players isn't really consistent with "budget" or being tight. It's a lot higher than a lot of other clubs.

The issue we've had, really, is that the calibre of player to being PL champions is a bit of a challenge. The players that have enabled such a feat have been punts and it's hard to think of any that are not just being flattered with retrospective.
I would argue that the vast majority of players that have helped push a team to a title have been signed for relatively small amounts, rather than the equivalent of £100m+. Pretty sure a few weeks ago this was talked about and almost every signing of that £80m+ calibre hadn't exactly set the world alight.
