Poch's absolutely best quality as a manager was that he could improve and develop more or less any player into a better version of themselves. Or at minimum make them into a functioning cog in a team that was superior to the sum of its parts.

Him seemingly deciding that he no longer wanted to do that is definitely a reason for his downfall with us. He was the near perfect Levy manager who could work with what he was given. Tieleman's could have been great under Poch I think for example. But alas.

Kind of the "Peter Principle" in manager terms. Made his name and his success based on being able to coach players, but got on Fergie's christmas card list and decided to reinvent himself in a way that did not suit his abilities

An issue the club may be facing and I agree to an extent is there’s very little value about at the moment unless you take advantage of a club in trouble. Semenyo, Mbeumo, Garnacho, Simons, Elanga - their clubs all seem to toeing the same line and valuing them all in the £60-70m bracket. It’s their right to set the fee but we’re now at the point where spending £70m will only get you an average to good player. We need improvements on what we’ve got, spending £300m on 4 good players both won’t drastically improve our squad and will put us in potential financial difficulties (by that I mean it will curb our future budgets and put us in strife if any of them flop).
Have to disagree on that. Mbeumo (who we won't get) and Eze would drastically improve our squad.

John Thomas is still actually missing, some bellend called Tottenham Massive seems to have turned up in his place though

Since the final weirdly enough...
I do find it strange , you know my views on Levy and ENIC but nothing could stop me coming on here almost delirious with joy for about a week after we won the EL .
You can be in the Levy has delivered camp , or like me we have won in spite of Levy camp but surely the euphoria should be the same at the end result . The how or why we achieved it really is still not an issue that should tarnish the winning after such a long wait .
I am still chuffed to bits and it’s over a month now

I'm a Tottenham season ticket holder and I have NFI who our players grew up supporting.
Nor does it always matter as their support is often different to us because most never play for "their" club.

David Bentley was interesting. Said he happily supports both.
Darren Bent is not so interesting. Unsure why on earth he signed for us when he's clearly 100% gooner.
If you're NFI, WTF did you ask how I knew for, I'm also a Tottenham Hotspur ST holder so what? Of course it matters it demonstrates where their loyalty lies and human nature will plays its part in their decision to choose where their future lies if the choice is between the 2 clubs....and *cough* money of course.

Or you can be in neither camp.... Didn't give the bloke a second thought that fabulous night......

On the other hand it's completely evident that - despite banging on about our trophy drought year after year - some people can't embrace that trophy 'cos Levy'.

Sad.

I think the problem with Poch is that he needs young, fit players, who absolutely do what he says for his football to thrive.
We had the youngest average age in the PL when we were at our best IIRC.
I often felt his comment about the "painful rebuild" was not what people thought it was. He likely knew that by 2019 players had reached peak age and grown ego's and maybe weren't buying into the intensity he wanted. I would say that probably even included the big names like Kane, Son, Eriksen, Toby & Jan by that stage.

I'm not sure if Poch even knew that was his problem though. He maybe thought he could get any player to run through walls and "like attack dogs" I think the quote was.
Probably didn't realise Ndomble wasn't gonna do that and the other two he wanted were made of glass.

My point was just because you have family that are Palace fans, doesn't mean they know anymore than anyone else.

He may well do, we may miss out

But we'll take the risk leaving it deep into the window to try and improve the terms in our favour.

A large part of ENICs strategy
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I can't see how more agreeable (if reports are correct) the conditions of sale can get, with Palace accepting staggered payments. Over 2-3 seasons?

Poch had the perfect storm with us. We had a generational team which he deserves credit for creating but he himself has been exposed as a manager since then.

Yeh, can't really ask much more than 20m paid back per year.... (Whether reports of CP agreeing to that are true is another story.)

We either want him or we don't at that point........

He inherited a squad that had a mass of untapped potential/under-utilised ability.... That was then cemented by the no-brainer signings of Wanyama & Toby.

He was the right man at the right time.

There were signs that he was gonna repeat that feat at Chavski; but they sacked him.

PSG was the wrong club at the wrong time..... If he'd taken over now it'd likely been a diff. story.

Can he get a team over the line when it comes to the crunch though? Still don't know......

People here thought Bent was a Spurs fan?

How do you even know that? .....This place didn't exist back then.
The people did.....as did other forums such as VS etc forever denying his allegiance whilst at the same time making the point it didn't make any difference so long as he did the business, which is a valid one tbf.

I can do no more than accept the lad (Eze) is talented and want him to do well if he came to us but I'm not going to apologise for providing info that I know to be fact (i.e. coming from him) nor am I intending to cry crocodile tears if opts to join a club he's supported since a kid.
