If we’re going to just end up selling him anyway though, would we be as well off just getting it done now rather than playing this faux tough man routine like we did with Kane and Bale etc and selling them right before the season starts and fucking over another manager.
Because the reality is, he wants out, Atletico want him, he is fully awake to the fact that this ownership are frauds and that he is very unlikely to achieve anything further by staying here. And from the outside looking in Romero seems a very volatile character who could cause an almerciful fuss if we don’t let him leave and in that scenario would be no asset to us anyway.
My view on it would be if it’s a choice of selling him for €60 million now or €70 million on the last week of August, take the €60 now and get it over with.
