Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

How clever is Levy, really? Sanctioning this lot as 20 most expensive signings ever.

I reckon the ones with a 5 stars next to them have justified/paid back their fee, 3 stars have been ok, but probably inconsistent with it. The rest, waste of money.

  • Dominic Solanke: £65 million 3*
  • Tanguy Ndombele: £63 million --
  • Richarlison: £60 million --
  • Brennan Johnson: £47.5 million 3*
  • Cristian Romero: £42 million 5*
  • Davinson Sanchez: £42 million --
  • James Maddison: £40 million 3*
  • Pedro Porro: £40 million 3*
  • Micky van de Ven: £34.5 million 5*
  • Moussa Sissoko: £31.5 million --
  • Giovani Lo Celso: £28.8 million --
  • Steven Bergwijn: £26.7 million --
  • Bryan Gil: £22.5 million --
  • Heung-min Son: £22 million 5*
  • Kieran Trippier: £20 million 3*
  • Roberto Soldado: £26 million --
  • Erik Lamela: £25.7 million 3*
  • Nacer Chadli: £22 million --
  • Ryan Sessegnon: £25 million --
  • Sergio Reguilón: £26 million --
Only 3 top quality signings based on value and performances, plus 6 that have done ok, or ok so far.

Not a great way to spend money, is it?

How are we so bad at signing players / spending money?

Which is all well and good, but Kane looked no better than most of them until he suddenly broke through. Even ex players from that time (Van der Vaart) have said he looked awful in training, too.

I don't think these players will ever look magically good enough until they've played a few competitive senior games
I mean, KWP and Tanganga got at least that. Skipp got far more than that. Their careers have revealed their level.

The truth is that Kane, from age 20, always looked promising in his appearances for Tottenham and FORCED his way into the PL first XI at 21 with his goalscoring in cup games. He was even quite successful in his loan spells when you consider his age and the fact that he wasn't really being played as a number 9. Millwall YPOY and all that.

The "no one thought Kane could play" thing is largely a product of his failed loan to Norwich as a 19 year old in the Premier League. Which, sure, fair enough, he did fail there, but the existence of a Premier League loan for a 19 year old indicates the esteem in which he was already held.

No Premier League team is interested in signing Damola Ajayi on loan.

Chadli joined for £7.8mil, got double digit goals and was sold for a profit

Lol why is this a 5 star system in which only 3 settings are possible?

I'd say from those listed

5 star: Sonny, VDV
4 star: Romero, Maddison, Porro, Trippier (also a wrong purchase price)
3 star: Solanke, Johnson, Lamela, Chadli
2 star: Richy, Sanchez, Sissoko, Bergwijn
1 star: Lo Celso, Gil, Reguilon
0 star: Ndombele, Soldado, Sessegnon

Regarding Kudus everyone on here wanted a take on specialist.... he is exactly that.

One thing that did suprise me is he's actually a very accurate passer of the ball, for a winger in the 95 percentile that's pretty decent.

Also looking on dataMB his performances between the last 2 seasons at spammers is pretty similar apart from his G/A output

He's a versatile player but primarily a RW and I think that's why he may be preferred...with kulusevski being out for start of season.

He kinda makes sense, he does have the ability to pull out a worldie too but seems to lack consistency and a lot of west ham fans want him out.

I'm torn on him but he could be excellent under Thomas Frank.

I'd rather eat broken glass than watch Wet Spam play if Spurs weren't involved.

Why do their fans want him gone so much?

I understand what you're both saying and I half agree with both of you. I just don't see it being worth our while. I agree kudus is type of player missing from our attack but spending big beans on him is a punt imo. 8 goals and 6 assists is probably the best he will ever see. Semenyo whilst being more expensive would be a much safer pirchase BUT I understand Bournemouth are asking too much so we are looking for cheaper.
I'd even argue that we would be better off going cheaper again than kudus and going for someone like bakayoko (40m ish?) instead and add any money saved towards a cm/dm.
But Kudus imo is much more talented than both Semenyo and Bakayoko. I don't see the harm in adding to our attack with a technically gifted winger, and the club should have enough money to also go out and buy another CM.

Its a question of which Kudus we getting.
If Frank can get the Kudus of 2023/24, he absolutely moves the needle big time. 17 goals & 7 assist all comps.

You only have to look at first 3-4 minutes of this video to get how he could move the needle...we have absolutely no one who would do anywhere close to what he does.

Ofcourse, if Kudus of 2024/25 turns up , thats a different story...

Spot on. He’s 24 though, plenty of room for growth and you have to think the shit season the Spammers have had has to impacted him.

This is a top talent.

Richy is 100% a 1 star and closer to a 0 star than he is a 2 star.

Richy has been a decent-ish contributor when fit for three years, has a place in the squad going forward if he's determined to have one, and has frequently been the subject of bids for real money from elsewhere.

No way he belongs in the 1-star bucket (those guys were rapidly unwelcome in worse teams than this one) and 0 is absurd.

Kinda the same story for all four 2-star guys. Try-hard squad players we paid star money to acquire for no apparent reason.

This got laughed out the room but it’s not the first time Harry7 has put in info on here from his mate at the Times/Telegraph (can’t remember which exactly) about the Son Saudi rumours a few weeks ago. The only part of this I don’t really believe, is the ‘defensive football’ part but I think that’s Harry’s Ange bias seeping in.

Yeah. Good mate has worked at Telegraph sport for years. So, it's not anything from inside the club - just what it being discussed by all the football journalists.

USA's relative flop for ticket sales at the club world club will see them throw money at global stars. The biggest Asian footballer on the planet would be a no brainer and a sound investment. Playing in the MLS would allow Son to have a lite schedule and be fully fit for the world cup - which brings all those lovely Korea fans $$$$.

So dazzle me with your suggestions of who we should be targeting.
I love it when people throw this line out like it's somehow a trump card..

I'm not part of Spurs transfer/scouting team. I don't know how much money we have, who is leaving how Frank wants to set up or what he feels he needs.
I also don't know who is available as I don't circulate in the world of chairmen and agents.
Me telling you who I want would just be an exercise in wish listing.

All I can tell you is what I've already told you. Kudos fell off a cliff last year. His stats are concerning and when West Ham fans want rid you should probably take that as a sign.

We would be gambling and we can do better
