Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think Frank is the type that wants to see them in training before assessing them. I don't think he is the YouTube highlights assessing type.
He's been a manager in same league for past 4 seasons he knows the players inside out especially with Brentfords impressive data collection & database.
He will likely need to see the kids in training and on tour but he should know day 1 whether likes of biss, bentancur, Johnson etc are players he can put into whatever system he wants to play

Beyond that we have a technical director, we have scouts. We should understand Franks system and style and understand our own players. Brighton have a system of a player or manager leaves they have lists of replacements ready to go. Modern clubs are far more than the manager. I don’t mind a little bit of time but this should be done very quickly.

If we leave all the transfers to the last minutes then we hurt our season as we will have far less time to integrate them. Also it’s pretty obvious we need a RW and DM, we should be able to bring them in before sales, those two positions are where we clearly lack.
And in so many more !!

Exactly. It would 100% come up at interview. If we are asking the right questions, which I suspect we are during the recruitment process then we’d ask the candidate his plans for the squad and individual players. It’s impossible not to. All this waiting for them to be back for training is nonsense. Decisions will already have been made. Frank has been watching us for years so will know lots about the squad.
This nonsense about Frank wanting to assess the squad is just the latest in a very long line of excuses people use to justify our inactivity in the transfer market.

It happens every window. People desperately digging for reasons and explanations that ain't there. I don't know why they do it. It's utter delusion.

The simple, straightforward answer is the one constant that's been laughing in their face for 25 years

Fuck me, we spent over $500 mil for Ange’s 2 season and what’ve we got to show for it player personnel wise? It’s an indictment on the clubs recruiting and transfer/payment policy.
How many that made up that 500 mil would get into pool or city teams? Maybe Maddison VDV and …..Bergvall eventually

Ill ask you this - as i think anyone should ask themselves when pontificaing on this.

Did you rate Ange as a manager?

If not, then you shouldn't be judging the players based on what he got out of them.

I'll ask you this - as I think anyone should ask themselves when pontificating on this.

Who employed Ange as a manager?

If you trust the club transfer/payment policy then you should judge the appointment policy and the revolving door of managers.

:levywtf: So Mr Fwank. We have a shortlist of 3 for you.

Player A) He'll be too expensive. The selling club won't bend over for me.
Player B) Wages too high. We wun tight ship here at Spurs
Player C) Selling club have PSR issues. Might just be able to get this done.

What do you think. We could always sign none if you prefer

:frankwtf: Player C would be useful boss if you can get it done for me.

This is the Summer Transfer Thread, it's here we're meant to discuss transfer matters and nothing else BUT fuck all is happening, apart from one or two tenuous links and people are a bit pissed off and/or concerned especially considering some of the moves others are making.

Don't want to read our comments, fuck off to another thread or create your own Summer Non-Transfer Thread, where you will be free to discuss everything whatever you want including sucking off Levy and co.

We finished 17th last season and whilst our squad isn't completely shit, it could certainly do with some quality additions.

It's as I said a few weeks back, we're waiting for the serious players to get their business done and see who's left.

The dumb thing is about this is if you aknowledge that you're here to discuss transfers and nothing else then we shouldn't be reading incessesant childish moaning about bald bad man and constant steams of tears every time another club makes a move lmao

Frank will know what players he thinks will be good additions to the squad and Frank will want to watch how the current players apply themselves to his training methods. There's also 40 days or so before our first meaningful game, I'm not saying that's when I want the signings to be made, I'm saying there's plenty of time between now and then to determine who the right targets are for the gaps Frank thinks we have.

Also as a side note Kulusevski is a much much better player than Elliot. Dragged us through months last season as pretty much our only creative outlet,

He'll have seen them spend half of that running around like headless chickens doing an extreme beep test from the goal line to the half way line.

His team will want to see how players manage what types of stuff he wants them to do - see if they can take instruction or be capable of certain positioning. How much application they have in training. How they react to different scenarios.

Bear in mind some managers (e.g. Conte and Poch) just flat out refused to play some players, so other managers wouldn't have been exposed to their training performances.
