I'm not saying Kudus is better than Eze.

I am saying his remuneration will be more acceptable to the miser, he is 24 so could still improve, and the sale of Richarlison, Son and / or Solomon would cover the 60 million Spam look like they will take.

Levy will love this deal and it gives Frank a genuine option and a player who could improve.

The deal for Eze will be big money because this will probably be his most lucrative contract of his career.
Kudus is just as likely to be a complete flop as he is to find form and consistency. Not against it but we need three first teamers like Eze, Osihmen, Guehi or Locatelli as well

Why is this "notion" not just common knowledge? Its not even a debate.

Can you explain to me why Romero and VDV didn't start one League game together since Christmas but both played all the Europa League KO games? Does that not clearly indicate that we targetted the Europa League over the League? Is that not just fucking obvious
Ange did do that but it wasn't some masterplan of his. He was scrambling around to save his arse in January after realising he had been found out in the PL and would barely pick up another point.

His only hope was to save his best players to beat (mainly dross) in Europe, abandoning all his footballing principles in the process.

Not really.

If he’s not finished top 5 and won a trophy after 2 seasons, he will have been objectively worse.

If it’s been 2 top 6 finishes, there is maybe a case that he’s building something solid that could be better but his first 2 seasons will have been worse.

Top 8 this season should and will have Frank in the hot seat. Especially if there is a good option available.
I don't think this is true. Trophy, yes.

But Ange's 2nd season was the worst league season in 90 years at the club. You're trying to use the first season as cover, when we stumbled to 5th - we had a flying start in the first 10 matches and then pretty much cratered.

Ange's last 18 months, EL run aside, were the longest sustained period of league form in the club's history. It is really hard to overstate how utterly shit we have been...because Tottenham has never really been so utterly shit for so long.

Winning a trophy and finishing in the top 4 is always the goal. Levy has demonstrated throughout his tenure that 5th is the minimal acceptable finish. There's really no reason to think that has changed.

I disagree.

They've bought and sold quite well recently.

If Spurs finish above Villa this season we will be heading in the right direction.
Not really they haven't.

Their wage to turnover ratio is at something like 90%, which means that they will need to offload quite a few of their highest earners, in the next couple of years, to meet with the PSR requirements of 70% or lower.

Knocking 20% off their wage bill is going to impact them pretty severely.

Their biggest earners are Martinez, Tielemans, Kamara and Onana, all on around £7.5M a year, with Watkins on marginally less. If they offload them to meet the wage/revenue criteria, they will still need to replace them, but with players on a much lower wage. In other words, young upcomers or inferior players.

It wouldn't surprise me if Villa drop like a stone over the next few seasons.

Them two were wrapped in cotton wool and eased back in slowly after months being out injured - VDV being taken off in his return game. That means fuck all he didn’t change up anything in the league to try and get more points he just stuck to his bs tactics with ill fitting players. We were just a hideous side under him for 18 months is that not obvious?
We won the cup going completely against his whole speil and stank the place out in a lot of the games.
The round of 16 was what March? Qtr final mid April so a month or 6 weeks of the league season left.
Of the 22 league defeats how many can be attributed to this genius plan? We lost a shit load of games last season too - fuck all to do with concentrating on a cup.
This form had also been happening for an unbearable amount of games before the latter Europa stages.

:levywtf: So Mr Fwank. We have a shortlist of 3 for you.

Player A) He'll be too expensive. The selling club won't bend over for me.
Player B) Wages too high. We wun tight ship here at Spurs
Player C) Selling club have PSR issues. Might just be able to get this done.

What do you think. We could always sign none if you prefer

:frankwtf: Player C would be useful boss if you can get it done for me.

Loving these little scenarios you make up on the back of absolutely zero knowledge…

A 'Thomas Frank Pick'

Nothing to do with narratives just objective outcomes.

5th one season
Trophy the second.

Frank needs a 5th place finish and a trophy in his first 2 seasons to equal it.

Top 8 is probably the target but given we finished 17th, top 10 would probably be fine depending on how we are trending performance wise.

Frank has a lot of work to do drilling these players into a proper system again after the chaos of last season.

I just think that all he has to do next season is not lose basically every league game and Frank is good at doing that. It will be refreshing seeing Spurs being hard to beat again.

No Spurs coach should ever see top 10 as acceptable,

Top 10 and no trophy should see Frank sacked.

Yeah the best managers do both, Howe won a league cup and qualified for CL, Chelsea did similar and Villa made CL QF, FA cup SF and finished 6th.

What Villa did is what I’m wanting to see with Frank, battling for CL football via the league whilst making a good fist of things in the cups - we will likely fall short, we usually do, but the win this year means with the cup runs over the next couple of years that hope will be there that our names on the cup.

What does “making a good fist of things in the cups” do for anyone?

Surely our ambitions need to be higher than Villa as the bench mark?

Levy wants to win the PL and CL. If we get top 5 or a trophy this season then I’ll believe he might have a chance of doing either eventually.

Outside the top 6 and I’d be looking at what coaches are on the market.

The way you talk about players that have won us the first decent trophy we've won this century is disgusting, you should be ashamed of yourself. The fact you then big up average players like Szoboszlas does make me wonder who the fuck you support
The way you talk about 2 players who for the vast majority of their Spurs careers have been awful, that's disgusting.

I support Tottenham and been doing so for over 40 years. The club is my life. But that doesn't mean I'm gonna shy away from calling out players who take the mickey. You don't like it, that's your problem.

Also, Szoboslai's PL win dwarfs our EL...even though it was brilliant to get our hands on a trophy again.

I'll leave you with this...Djimi Traore won the CL and Bernard Diomede is a World Cup winner.

We do really need to start getting players in that excite fans. It's unbelievable really year after year we as fans are still doing this shit because apart from that Europa league it's beyond a disgrace. How long before the same old chants start again

⬆️ This is pretty much exactly what happened. but we were found out by early on in Ange's first season not last season
