Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If a club triggers a release clause then "legally" the club holding the contract has to honour that contract irrespective of how the buying club establishes that contract clause.

I think this is a storm in the preverbal tea cup.

Levy isn't that stupid.

I can tell you don’t work in law…. that is not ‘legally’ how it must work. There could be clearly worded stipulations within that release clause. One of the most likely being that it may not be shared with third parties.

The likely scenario is that an NDA was breached - with information leaked to a third party.

It won’t affect the overall contractual obligations but a potential claim could be made alongside.

That grotesque, fat, wannabe gangster is threatening law suits every week. So I don't pay much heed to this. It just a tactic to appease a thick fan base.
If he wants to sue anyone it can only be MGW. We have no obligations of confidentiality (obviously). He also fails to understand "damages" under English law. There are none so there is no case.
As for tapping up, perhaps there is some Premier league rule, but again it is probably a contractual obligation with MGW. And it tenuous to argue third party causing breach of a contract.
He's just a Demis Roussos tribute act. And a crap one at that.

Ok, I stand corrected.

Apparently (according to google) you do need club permission to talk to a contracted player, even during the transfer window.

That said, I can’t believe we’d have been daft enough to speak to him without this permission.

They’re just having a melt.

Yeah, that's fair. However, Liverpool did apologise for their conduct, which is an admission of guilt in itself, but no it wasn't "proven."

The Premier League actually stared to investigate but there was a lack of evidence.

What happened in theory is that Southampton got pissed at Liverpool, told them to fuck off because they were taking the piss...and eventually they both agreed that the move will go through with Liverpool paying them more money.

If a release clause is met you can talk to the player if not you have talk to the club first. On the issue of confidentiality the player and his agent knew about it so no prizes for guessing who let it be known.

If he was due a medical today, Forest must have been aware, and sanctioned the deal.

There's no way Levy wouldn't have done his due diligence and the club arranged a medical.

This i think is paper talk, and Forest can do nothing about it if the release clause has been met even of the information was leaked by his agent, or even the player himself, confidential or not.

Only one thing I would say, if we did similar to what Chelsea did with Olise, this would go sour pretty quickly.

But lawyers should be aware of previous cases as a bare minimum with their due diligence - so you have to think we weren’t that stupid.

Let’s hope not.

That Prince Vultan owner of theirs is petty af.

Knew when he charged onto the pitch to bad up Nuno he wasn't wired right.

The only worry here is Man City etc thinking let’s get him and then matching the release clause.

Forest aren’t going to hold him, it’s a release clause and the pace this deal has moved at all ready, I cannot believe for a second that in the space of 24 hours they have solid evidence of tapping up
