Player Luka Vuskovic

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It looks as if Frank will game plan for specific opposing teams. If one of our potential formations is 3 CBs with WBs, and given attacking set pieces will be a significant part of our attacking threat, we should definitely keep Vuskovic. It looks as if he can play both LCB and RCB, and he's very dangerous in the air in opposing boxes.

HSV have just been promoted back into the Bundesliga, so are not playing in Europe. Mario, Luka's brother and also highly rated, is serving a doping ban there, and apparently the family are grateful for the support Hamburg have shown him. So, as long as the doping shenanigans aren't repeated, a season in the Bundesliga would be great experience, and he'd quickly settle.

But if he stayed at Spurs, since he's only 18, Luka would be eligible for all our domestic games, even if he didn't make the CL squad.

It's sadly inevitable that we will suffer injuries, and 20-25 games in domestic competitions for us would ensure Luka develops as a player.

Last night underlined how important squad depth is, and Vuskovic has plenty to offer. Keep him at Spurs.

Conte and Mourinho had us knocked out of cups against teams like Colchester, Norwich and Everton, and you think they would have walked the Europa. Definitely not a given.

We lost against Mura and Vitesse with Conte in the damn Conference league. With Mourinho we lost to a Croatian team whose manager was in jail!

Even more beautiful than we thought 😚

Must have a CB lined up if Vuskovic is off on loan

Might be that we won't play a back three very often and so are ok with less depth. I think that would mean we're likely to see a lot more Pahlinha and Gray at CDM, and also perhaps Gray at CB too, which is maybe a way Thomas will get him some more minutes.

Its pretty clear Danso is considered our top CB depth choice by Thomas right now, and is likely to play either LCB and RCB as needed.

I'm glad Vusk is going out on loan though as he needs regular game time against quality oppo to continue his development. We also have a bit of a logjam at CB currently with Davies and Dragusin still under contract, and Gray needing minutes. Hopefully we'll be able to figure that all out by next summer and welcome Vuskovic back to become a key backup with an eye towards eventually starting.

Frank has hinted that he wants to play Gray exclusively in Midfield. If we let Vuskovic go out on loan, we either need to bring in a CB or a FB, because you can't have 7 players for 4 positions when your in Europe, especially with Udogie, VdV and Romero's injury history.

Thomas Frank on what skills does Archie Gray possess to play in the number six role... "We need to be aware of not putting players in different positions. I think he's a player that is a flexible player. He can definitely play the centre-back and the right- back, but I think he is more natural as a midfielder."

Suggests that Frank will only put Gray into those CB/RB roles in the worst of injury crises, and sees him primarily as cover for Palhinha this season. I think it makes sense to send Vuskovic on this loan tbh, we have 1 more game before a 2 week break in the PL calendar and chances are we will have Dragusin back fit before the end of the calendar year, if Vuskovic plays most of their minutes it will be a huge litmus test of his readiness for top level European football, he'll be under the kosh most games as they've only just come back up, would make sense to include a break clause in Jan so we can recall him if we're getting fucked by injuries as he is our highest level player going out on loan IMO and we could have done with having break clauses for either of Dorrington/Phillips last season to cover the CB injury crisis through Jan and Feb.
