Sure. We can put "shag Jennifer Lawrence" up there too, I guess.

2-8 are realistic goals.
I'd argue winning the Champion's League is more realistic than winning the Premier League. We've always had a good record in Europe, and it wasn't that long ago we got to the final.

With a bit more luck, we might well have won it too, Liverpool were there for the taking that night.

I get where you're coming from...but we're in the CL - we're not going to win the fucking thing without a massive dose of good fortune, so its not like we should go bankrupt buying players. Madrid, PSG, and City, as always, are the favorites. Bayern has an outside shot, as usually, because they have an expensive squad that really doesn't have any other competition to focus on.

Our priority is:
  1. Win the PL (lolz)
  2. Qualify for next season's CL.
  3. Advancing to the CL KO stage to get the revenue.
  4. Advance to the CL QF or beyond if we get a good draw.
  5. Win the FA Cup.
  6. Finish above woolwich.
  7. Finish above chelsea.
  8. Win the LC.

Mate; I couldn't see Thomas's Treble on your list? :frankstop:

We'll never know....... The dodgy pen meant they never had to truly work for it...... And we were lackluster ourselves.

So much build-up for such a dreadful game of football.

Poorer overall quality and our performance was worse in Bilbao, but it had some sloppy drama about it. The CL final was just lifeless.

Stupidly hot night for a couple of limey clubs to deal with too...

All the while Poch & Eriksen were thinking about "new adventures" and Harry was half-crocked. :(

We were shit for the first hour or so I agree, probably shell-shocked by the penalty decision.

But by the end we were making their keeper earn his money, it's just that doing so meant we left ourselves vulnerable to the inevitable counter-attack.

You are likely right in terms of odds. If I had to bet my house on one or the other, it'd definitely be on a fortunate run of draws in the CL and one great night in the final.

But I don't think you can plan for it. Unless you're Madrid, PSG, etc. the CL is 3 stages: get through to the KO Rounds -> get to the QF -> see how it goes.

Its a hard thing to make a goal, because its so dependent on results and draws you can't control. This is why Bayern and PSG struggle - its really their only meaningful competition but its such a crapshoot.

You can set a goal of winning the league, however, even if the odds are longer in reality. Because, technically, everything is within your sphere of influence.

One thing I hope we find out on old-timers football podcasts and the like from folks in our camp: how obvious was it in training that Kane had no business starting that game fitness-wise?
I still think if Lucas started, and we still lost, the narrative of “how did Kane start on the bench?” would’ve been/continued to be a huge story. Kane wasn’t fit but imo Poch’s hands were tied in a way that only would’ve been accepted if we won.

The penalty decision murdered that game from a neutral's perspective.
The only good thing about the early penalty is I immediately set about getting so pissed I've only a hazy recollection of the rest of that dreadful match.

I agree Poch would have been condemned either way assuming we'd still eventually lost, but starting Lucas Moura would have been the right thing to do.

You shouldn't be dropping the player who scores a hat-trick and gets you to the final in the first place.

It sends out the wrong message, in the same way sacking a manager who has just won your club their first trophy in almost 20 years does.

It’s mad how kids aren’t even given a season now by fans, especially one that’s clearly trying.
Back in the 80s and 90s I’d patiently wait until players got to 27-28 to finally come good !
Yes I'm aware Sonny's first season was shit, as well as Darren Adnerton's so we can say Tel's was shit too - same energy mah dude the players have to prove their worth not the other way round.

The decision should never have considered narrative, whatever decision gave us a better chance to win the game should have been made.

We'll never know the answer to this, and I think both sides have a valid point. In hindsight, seeing how limited Kane's mobility was in the final, I'm on the side that thinks he should have come off the bench.
