So he wasn't actually rejecting offers to take time away from the game like some people previously claimed here, as he's jumping at the first opportunity with a half decent team.

Or he couldn't reject his menacing buddy, and also remembered that a few more millions in the bank account wouldn't hurt anybody. That's also plausible.

I read he rejected an offer inthe Turkish League because he wanted a job in a top 5 league.

I'm absolutely loving the Forest meltdown.. Like many, I had a moderate soft spot for them given their past and history trying to play good football, but that butterball chairman did it for me. MGW made the wrong decision. Was actually blindingly obvious and I think he'll regret it, as he's likely now been priced out the market.

Hope they go down, and with Ange I think there is a small, but not insignificant chance they will.

They do not like it at all over on the Forest forums. I'm very intrigued to see where it goes with Ange there.

Absolutely no chance that he will adapt. It'll be Ange-ball all day. Perhaps until they are either get far in Europe or are on the brink of relegation.

He can't do that long term. He only did that temporarily to preserve his precious ego, which is the most important thing to him in the world ... he knew he was out and wanted to cling on to something, so he abandoned all his 'tactics' and went full low block/talent reliant.

Doubt he can apply this in the league consistently.
Yeah, the other thing is that we really weren't very good in the EL final in that low block mode. Not very good at all. Got the job done just against a shite Man U team.

He may have a bounce and then implode. Sound familiar.

It's who we are!

I just hope MGW has a relegation release clause.

The irony in us winning something because he abandoned his principles is lost to many.

Yet he didn’t apply that in the league. I can see a similar approach. I suspect he will be desperate to prove our board wrong.

He did apply it in the league though, at least from February onwards. And it still didn’t work.

He was lucky that every single team we played in the Europa League had worse players than us. Every single one. That’s not the case in the PL hence the horrendous results even with a more “pragmatic” style. We barely scored a goal in the league during that run-in.

Remember all the Forest fans who signed up to the forum during the MGW fiasco? I bet they’re reading this thread right now. Have it cunts.

He might do.

They will be utter carnage for the first few games, as they look to adapt and then routinely get found wanting at the back.

It's going to be really interesting, and potentially cathartic knowing that Ange did it for us, but eventually we saw the flaws, was rightfully sacked and then he goes to a club that people have turned on of late and completely bombs and their owner starts to run out of ideas.

Nothing but respect for Ange for the cup win and a few things he said about fighting for Spurs against all the noise, and I did enjoy his early press conference, but he wasn't my favourite manager come the end.

Perhaps the MO from Marinakis is to win the Europa and just about survive the league, and thats why he has gone for Ange.
