Haha. Of course not!

Better playmaker / proven at this level though.

Perhaps with time Xavi will develop similar guile to compensate for lack of strength. We should be buying prospects like that to develop under senior players like Madders not replace them.

I don't think you can put this one on the club, okay the Eze thing was wild and IMO he was only going to join them as that's his boyhood club but if not Xavi who else was there to come in?

This is all hindsight speak IMO because fans were incredibly happy that he was coming to us and saw it as a coup, fans were delighted we got him in front of Chelsea.

We are are in bit of a shit position that both our 10s are out with long term injuries and ideally he'd be sharing mins with one or both of them so whoever came in faced a baptism of fire and thrown into the pressure cooker regardless.

MGW was super weird too, to say the least! Rather have Grealish starting with Xavi on the bench. I didn’t know Xavi, so yes it’s hindsight.

It’s never been our recruitment strategy to do that we go for too many unknowns.

Xavi wasn't an 'unknown' though.
Perhaps we differ in definition.

His lack of starts last year & zero goals for PSG.

He has 26 assists for 6 clubs in his whole career. The goal tally is not exceptional either.

I don’t see (it’s unknown) what justifies A) to be a top earner at THFC & B) what our recruitment team saw employing him as a guaranteed replacement for James.

But that’s just my opinion man. I ain’t a pro never played the game really just watch a lot of football lol.

19 goal contributions in 33 matches in Germany last season, forget his PSG stint he was a kid lol same with Ekitike you have to be an exceptional young player to make it there and even then that was during their period of playing galaticos anyway.

A lot of people wanted him at this football club and was seen as a coup seeing the price we paid for him, it hasn't worked out so far but Liverpool paid more than twice as much for a player who is more talented than him and it hasn't worked out for him either...doesn't mean we should write both players off...

I can see why it worked at RB. And perhaps he’d be better suited as a 7 in a different system. I’m not writing him off, really want him to do well.

Just not proven to be a great deal for the club so far. Grealish on loan would be a low cost way to give Xavi time to develop.

Perhaps he just wanted to stay up North & wasn’t interested in talking to London clubs.

The thing is ENIC are such cunts it’s easy to blame them for imaginary things as well as their apparent showers of shite.

Do the club really want success
The obvious answer is yes of course they do
But so often , we seem to go for the headline signings that make people go wow
But in reality, do nothing to make us a better team or squad
This has has been happening long before enic
We have spent so much money over the years , yet only finished second once in 64 years
It’s why we get labelled the way we do
