I was on the train, but down the other end from where the trouble was - all I know is we stopped at Crewe for half hour, the cafe bar was shut, then someone got led away by police.

What went on?

As far as I remember the train wasn't free it was £25 and that was paid for using the lump sum (£200,000 i think) every premier league club got at the beginning of the season to reduce ticket or travel for away fans. Cant remember if the coach cost anything though, but being a mode of transport put on by the club legally both had to be alcohol free. A brilliant gesture from Southampton, one which won't be replicated by the majority of teams.

The train was £25. Still a good deal but ruined by the idiots on the way back. They stole the beers stored on board the train and so we had to stop for 30 odd minutes while they were arrested at Crewe.

Personally think the club should have at least acknowledged our support. 7 hour round trip and we got embarrassed but sang our hearts out all afternoon. Players didn't even bother coming over to clap us, apart from Hugo and Dawson.

From what I've seen, its £5 for ticket and £5 for the travel, so whilst it's still amazing value it's not 'free'. £2 for u16s total though

Only season ticket holders who go to 'x' amount of away games get a look in though it seems.

Not even worth travelling if you can't booze on board

Nice gesture from the club towards the fans, yeah the club still has to make money but a freebie after getting hammered away from home is a positive.
Yeah I took advantage of the cheap coach travel doing Southampton and Hull away on the coaches, was short on cash around the time of both games so I bit the bullet and did it, the coach to Southampton was proper 'wallys' the coach to Hull wasn't too bad and we did have a few beers.
Yeah it weren't luxury but for free who can complain?

Don't think you need to justify taking advantage of a money saving offer, mate. You still went to the match.
