Many things can be true

Romero is definitely above Europa league levels,

Romero on his day can help inspire a team

Romero is not on 'his day' often enough for spurs in the league

Romero is CB for a team that finished 17th last season, is in 16th this and that has contributed to a lot of lost points

This is obviously the case. It’s the reason he’s also credited with turning the Argentine NT around. Before he became a regular starter, they’d been crying out for a CB leader for years to partner Otamemdi. When he came into the team, they started winning trophies.

Some fans don’t understand the edge he plays with but that’s the edge that also helps teams win.

Players should always be scared of their captain regardless, that's why they're the captain because they won't hesitate to put them in their place, not much else to it.

I think he broke a record for games without conceding a foul under Ange. Had a ridiculous streak without a yellow as well.

It can be done.

My guess is that he’s a terrible loser and gets closer to the edge out of frustration or when he’s feeling control of a game slipping. That can be coached
