As much as I think it's bent/bias refs....
Villa haven't had one yet.
Burnley, Forest and Everton have only had 2 each.
Even refs faves Arse have "only" had 4.
Way out in front? Brentford with 9. 2 more than the next teams.

Villa next will be interesting as to whether any penalties are given and why.
I looked up our penalty statistics a little while back. We only have six over the past three seasons, which is the lowest in the league for all clubs that have been Prem for each of those seasons.

If these rumours are true about the PL trying to move our Chelsea game to the Thursday because they don't want a clash with the Europa League final on the wednesday then thats an absolute disgrace and the club need to fight this.

To expect us to play 2 games in 3 days (Thursday and Sunday) on the final week of the season is simply not fair. No team would accept that given our circumstances. If the club let that happen then we deserve to get relegated. We should be demanding we play that Tuesday and as close to that Chelsea cup final as possible. Wednesday is the fair solution but if not Wednesday then it has to be Tuesday. Thursday has to be a complete no no. We cannot let this happen. If we do then we deserve to be relegated.

DOES ANYONE STAND UP FOR THIS CLUB???
It's really shameful isn't it? Just like how Vinai says nothing when we get shafted by the officials, he'll sit and do nothing when the schedulers give us the Thursday slot.
Is that surprising really? We are hardly ever in the opposing penalty area.
That also accounts for Ange's two seasons where we had a ton of possession in the opponent's final third.

The worry for me is that Brentford have lost a bit of form and momentum.

No way West Ham will be on the front foot but Brentford might just be vulnerable.

Here is hoping they have one big performance in them.

Final third though ... horseshoeing the ball left to right and back again 30 yards from goal isn't the same as threatening in the penalty area.

While another manager we binned off is beating us in the relegation scrap.
We have done some utterly devastatingly dumb shit. Nuno: never wanted him would not let him play the system he wanted or got him the personell to play it had zero authority. Conte never respected the club did not want the job, simply wanted money got totally played. Stelini even as an interim fucking stupid appointment. Ange how we fell for a man whose highest league achievements were Scotland and Japan still baffles me, all football is NOT the same his appointments above all others showed me that Levy did not understand the game even after so many years. Frank: that Andrews has so seamlessly replaced him and all the other Bournemouth coaches face plant and make no mark shows how system dependant their achievements are. Igor Tudor...lol he had no chance. Even as far back as Pochettino Levy wanted Van Gaal.

If we can't get some real football expertise in at board level post relegation the club could end up following Leicester. First order of business is removing Lange.

With Xavi injured we are in deep shit and may get relegated. Then we’ll have six or seven injured players going to next season with their wages plus losing over 250 million sterling in turnover we are in trouble Spurs may not exist in five seasons. it is that serious.

The silver lining, can't sell these players if they are hurt. And they will be good in the Championship when healthy.

Imagine Maddison, Kulu, Kudus, Solanke, Tel, and Simons in the Championship. Even if for half a season. They will bounce us back up.

Spurs will always exist. In what kind of shape is a different matter...

The 50% wage cut relegation clauses would be a mega help to the extent those clauses are actually real.

What good fortune that agents and those players probably didn't consider that a real possibility.

I've made peace that we are getting relegated. Watch city fighting tooth and nail to get their fixtures rearranged for an extra rest day.

Watch us paltheticly accept Chelsea on Thursday night and have a quick turnaround for Everton. That's us done. The club don't care. Beyond incompetent. And that's me done. I've thrown in the towel

Chelsea making the fa cup final should have been our advantage. We should be playing them the Tuesday after their cup final and then have 5 days to prepare for Everton. But we've allowed the Premier league to move us to Thursday. We've turned an advantage into a disadvantage.

What's the point. Nobody at the club cares anywhere near as much as we do. I'd honestly do a way better job running the club myself. How the fuck have they allowed this to happen. I give up. We deserve to be relegated. These owners are absolutely clueless and not at the races at all. Any other club would have made sure we got the Tuesday slot and refused the Thursday. I'm fuming. It's over

Obviously will fuck us royally but if you consider how we've been run (lowest wages to turnover of any big club, huge reliable income from commercial stuff) we're probably in as good a position as any club to withstand this type of disaster. It's one area Levy's conservatism is actually useful.

Plus there have been plenty of big clubs that went down in far worse financial situations like Villa and Newcastle who eventually bounced back and both have been, or will be, in the Champions League within a few seasons of promotion.

It might be a long tough road, but we've got enough players to loan/sell to cover a good chunk of the losses, plus the whole relegation clause element should help us. We'll obviously suffer but any talk of insolvency or the club being in existential danger is way OTT imo, and most financial experts I've heard talk about it say the same.

The critical thing is to just not make the same mistakes, take relegation seriously, and ensure we come straight back up at the first time of asking. We'd be far better off retaining a strong enough squad to ensure promotion and taking a short term financial hit, rather than selling the crown jewels and be left with a squad of purely kids and cloggers that leaves us stuck in the Championship.

Ornstein said that wages are halved if we ho down and the £250m turnover factored in included loss of CL money which we wouldn't have if we stay up anyway.

The injury crisis has covered just how bloated the squad is. Below is roughly what it is and that isn’t even with the youth seniors like Byfield, Williams-Barnett and Thompson. We probably need to raise/save £150-100m in fees and wages. I don’t see that as an issue as we need to remove about 10 players anyway.

Goalkeepers

• Guglielmo Vicario
• Antonín Kinský
• Brandon Austin
• Luca Gunter
• Aaron Maguire (loanee)

Defenders

• Radu Drăgușin
• Kevin Danso
• Destiny Udogie
• Cristian Romero
• Pedro Porro
• Djed Spence
• Ben Davies
• Micky van de Ven
• Souza
• Luka Vušković (loanee)
• Kōta Takai (loanee)
• Ashley Phillips (loanee)
• Alfie Dorrington (loanee)

Midfielders

• João Palhinha
• Xavi Simons
• Yves Bissouma
• James Maddison
• Archie Gray
• Lucas Bergvall
• Dejan Kulusevski
• Conor Gallagher
• Pape Matar Sarr
• Rodrigo Bentancur
• Alfie Devine (loanee)
• Tyrese Hall (loanee)

Forwards / Attackers

• Richarlison
• Mathys Tel
• Dominic Solanke
• Mohammed Kudus
• Wilson Odobert
• Randal Kolo Muani
• Mikey Moore (loanee)
• Manor Solomon (loanee)
• Alejo Véliz (loanee)

I can see at least 8 leaving out of that

One thing about the injuries will mean that the likes of Maddison, Kulu, Xavi will have to stick around next season...providing they come back in tact that will help us go straight back up.

Fascinating Summer coming up.

The last time we went down (having finished rock bottom of the league), the fans supported the team regardless. They went on to immediately win 5 trophies - the second division, two FA Cups, a shared Charity Shield and the UEFA Cup - in 6 years. That's what we need to be trying for if the worst does happen again, and it starts with us.

I always think it's ironic when people say we lack depth. In terms of numbers (nearly all full or youth internationals) we're as stocked as anyone in the entire league. Problem is injuries and brain-dead squad building/composition - we're got fuckloads of the same types of players and too many kids.

If some random team like Fulham or Brentford had our injuries this season, half their 11 would be players no-one has ever heard of.

That squad is a monstrosity but i believe we could get rid of 10 of those players and still be around the automatic promotion places without bringing in a single addition. We'll have to add 5 or 6 to balance the squad better and make sure we win it but overall i cant wait to see the back of a lot of those.

Pretty sure Vicario, Dragusin, Romero, VDV, Porro, Sarr, Richarlison and Veliz will be sold. I think most of those would have gone even if we stay up. Even marking prices down thats circa £170m i would have thought. Bissouma, Kolo Muani and Palhinha out of contract. Guess they might extend Davies by a year.

Unknowns are Kudus, Gallagher, Spence, Bentancur.

Club should have bought Hayden Hackney and Lookman. Lookman was offered to us and Lange didn’t want to make a stressed purchase the fucking idiot.

A passing midfielder and winger goalscorer I am certain we would have some more points.

The injury crisis is nuts. I thought about the pitch and training ground but prior to 2-3 years ago our injuries were normal. We seem to get 1 long term injury per game right now which is just insane.
