What position for Europa cup

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

the reason brendan rodgers is now doing as well as he is doing was not because of europa league, it's because the chairman stood by him, gave him time, let him keep his best players and gave him time to implement his ideas and keep at it, they weren't in europe the time they finished 7th, if anyone truly believes the reason liverpool are back up there is because no europa league, then you truly are a lost cause, liverpool are doing well because they've done something we never will, stick with someone and have ambition, we panic bought about 7 players and expected them to gel instantly after selling our best player! AGAIN! and we sacked a manager after a couple of bad games and we're now in a slump, because the fans of this club will never be happy, we blindly chase 4th every year like we deserve to be up there, we don't deserve to be in champions league, this isnt a football club anymore, we're a selling, money making buisness, and levy knows that, he's just screwing with every fan and turning them against each other, that's the reason we wont make 4th, because our fans are never happy, we expect to play 'beautiful football', well look what has happened, we play beautiful football and we're fucking shit, AVB had his flaws, and in the end was undone by levy, but you need stability at a football club, and the sooner our fans realise that, instead of wanting quick fixes and any manager that doesn't play 'the tottenham way' out, and just a manager to implement his ideas, the quicker we'll get into top 4

No one in THESE pics seem to be unhappy to be there...
I don't care HOW they re-brand it, and subtly convince us it's actually a competition not worth being in... it's FUCKING EUROPE... AND TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR BELONG THERE!!
I agree with what you say. But the Europa League is a dark, shitty shadow of what the UEFA Cup was.

I would take a 10-0 defeat if it didn't mean I had to struggle with the trains on a Sunday. Of course, most people on here wouldn't know how to find WHL without a map, so it doesn't matter to them.

It kills me that I can't go to WHL for every home game, that I can't travel to see Spurs away, that I can't go to Europe with them! I do what I can to support from far away and that includes waking up with a brain splitting hang over to see them play at 04:45. I choose to do this, because I fucking love this team! Now, I understand being priced out of tickets and how that verges on being criminal, but complaining about catching a train? You have no idea how lucky you are to be able to complain about how it's somewhat difficult to make it to the Lane! There are supporters on here from throughout the world that would kill for the opportunity to go see a match just once a season let alone every single game.

I understand that we might not "get it" when it comes to the "ramifications" of playing in Europe. But your comment comes off as incredibly rude and dismissive of the fans that don't live in and around London.

Why not play the CL and EL on alternate weeks? It would remove the need for Thurs/Sun fixtures and TV would have European football every week. It would also enhance the profile of the EL without treading on the CL's toes.

You also have to realise that you come across as someone trying to prove his fandom because he's an American based fan. But, my friend, there is a sizeable chunk of fandom who won't buy that argument, no matter how vehemently you make it. Do I subscribe to it? No. But it's a fact nonetheless. Foreign fans as they may be are, as far as I am concerned, very welcome. But don't second guess the fans who do go regularly and may have a different opinion from, particularly now. Unfortunately there is a considerable chunk of attendees at WHL these days who feel they have done enough for their club that the matchday experience and their fandom is what they decide it to be. Are they right? Probably not. But they are there nonetheless.

Because it was created for the purpose of monetary gain and not improving the competition. Hiding behind the facade that it was created to open the competition to some of the more ''minor'' nations.

It is a diluted piss poor competition until the KO stages. It's not entirely The Europa League's fault. The UEFA Cup was sullied in 1999 when it merged with the Cup Winner's Cup.

No matter what anyone argues the group stages are farcical. We pissed our group and we have been terrible all year and all that games like Tottenham v. Sheriff achieve is more money in UEFA's pocket. It doesn't improve Sheriff and was a detriment to us.

All you have to do is look through a lot of the results in the group stages to see horrible mismatches where the stronger sides roll over weaker ones.

Yes, there are some upsets and stories of minnows upsetting the odds but none, truly, have a chance in this competition. That is what the Intertoto was for, and as much as it was mocked, it created glory for clubs that don't see it often, but wasn't attended very well due to the smaller fanbases of these clubs thus UEFA seeing an opportunity to capitalise. UEFA merged it and once again the UEFA Cup was diluted.

This, and many more reasons I can't be arsed to go on about are why this current competition in it's current format is a shadow of the UEFA Cup.

Just like the new European Championship setup it's borne out of capitalism and not football.

That said, I'd love to win it.
