He may be young but he plays like a naive 18 yr old from the youth team not someone that has wracked up over 100 appearances for us and Bayern. Some of his decision making is like a street footballer. I think he thinks he's better than he is which is probably a by product of everyone telling him how great he is from a young age and a transfer to Bayern.
He scored a great goal, can at times put in a decent cross but at the very least i'd loan him next season to really see if there is anything there. If we got a reasonably good offer i'd sell.

VDV red too. Much much worse than Xavi’s who I thought was extremely unlucky to be sent off.

But Xavi had started throwing himself around like Gascoigne in the 91 final. And for real nothing situations.
5 mins earleri he'd nearly taken someones leg off with a sliding tackle, I said to my mate - he's gonna get a red if he carries on like that. And the one he got was for a tackle with no upside.

The Palace one was a shocker but the writing was on the wall that evening - we were 2nd best even the first 20mins
The cross came from him fucking about. He had an easy pass on to Udogie, who’s facing forwards as soon as he gets the ball. He ignores that and ends up running back to his own goal due to missing the only option that was available, another instance of him trying to be flash!
Was nothing to do with defending. He had the ball outside our box and refused to pass the ball, as in his eyes he doesn't look good from an easy pass.
You might be right, I don’t remember the context around Xavi’s red. I just remembered it as more of an accidental step on the foot that got punished too harshly in my eyes.
Palace were on top of us but the VDV challenge was right after we had just taken the lead and had the stadium buzzing. It was such a gut punch and then the reaction from the team was an unmitigated disaster. Couldn’t even hold out for a couple minutes to half.

Give me a player who scores a goal and assists every game - and makes a defensive gaff once a season. I would choose him every time.
IIRC Xavi’s was a reckless rake with the studs down the opposition’s calf from behind.

I am not saying he is that player.
But he has been decent in the last two games.
And the pen is one off - and not relevant to his future potential.
A one off? it was about an hour after he almost assisted them for an open goal. He was a net negative on the game.

For better AND worse, he creates. Sometimes is a moment of magic at the right end, others it’s a clusterfuck at the wrong end.
I know he’s a marked man but I just don’t think we have anyone else in the squad that’s healthy who can make us more dangerous in the attacking third.

Our decision making is ludicrous, so all Tel did was what we do, with many forgetting Van De Ven's brain fart against Palace.
We self-implode, but much of that is this incredible home record of ours. It brings all manner of tension.
Yeah he hasn’t got a drop of the shoulder or good enough balance for a winger. It’s all very upright and easy to read. Poor football brain as well. I’m just sick of watching those kind of players for us now.
