Transfers Summer 2026 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Found this review of Savinho from a City fan on Reddit quite interesting:
'His finishing is nervy and weak, his crossing can be erratic. When he beats his man and gets a chance to cross, it's 50/50% that it'll even go near the right person.'

Sounds like those we have now. We need players that can hit the target from the edge of the area like opposition players have done to us too often.

That's somewhat sobering but I still think he's young enough and skilled enough that with confidence from his manager, he'll come good.
As that bloke says, he's got all the attributes but just can't link them together and maybe that's to do with sporadic appearances and a desire to try and impress the manager, knowing that he'll be benched again if he messes up.

A bit like Tel towards the end of last season, where he felt the pressure to perform and suffered for it.

RDZ seems to have the ability to instill confidence in his players and make them believe in themselves, so if he can do that with Sav, he may actually prove to be a bargain in comparison.

We'll just have to wait and see but it's not the first time a fanbase hasn't rated a player who's gone on to do well elsewhere.
Remember what Juve fans said about Kulu and Bents?
Also lets please remember this is coming from a City fan who gets to watch Doku, Semenyo and Cherki every week.

We have finished 17th twice on the bounce and had to watch Tel, Odobert, Johnson and Muani bumble about out wide.

What is not quite right for City can absolutely be an improvement on what we have.

Does De Zerbi obviously want him? Or like many a Tottenham manager before will he just be happy to take him and sign off on it?

He isnt Rice, he isnt prem proven ay all. Its just potential at this point. I wouldnt have any doubt about overpaying for a Gibbs-White or Wharton by £20m because they are clearly quality and raise the level of the whole side. This is more like overpaying for the likes of Johnson or Tel, although suspect Savinho has a higher ceiling than both but its a big risk.

About Rice I said as an EXAMPLE if you read my post.

It's all relevant and I cannot believe that De Zerbi would agree to setting the second highest transfer fee in the clubs history on a punt.

He has improved Gallagher, Tel, Spence and Kinsky over the length of six games, under the most intense pressure.

He must something in the player if he wants him, so lets cut De Zerbi some slack in what he feels he can do?

That’s every winger throughout history though. Crossing is a low percentage chance of success. Even the very best at it only find their target one in four or worse.

Pep also coaches the individuality out of all his wingers. Savio had 11g/10a in Michel's system at Girona.

That's why I'm not as quick to write off so many of our players as some, especially the youngsters because I honestly think that in a decent system and under a decent manager, a lot of them will make a lot of people eat their words.

There's a lot of talent and potential in our squad and under a manager that's not a cowardly fuckwit (Frank), I'm sure they'll surprise a lot of people.

We don't need yet another gamble. We need a sure thing.

People pine for Lennon and crossing was one of his weaknesses.
Savio on one side and Kudus on the other is a really nice threat to have imo, opens up space all over the pitch and especially if we are moving the ball quickly.
Yeah, I think they will be a handful for defences. The main problem is neither are prolific and neither are our centre forwards or midfielders. We have to hope that De Zerbi’s system creates more scorers.

This feels like the type of sentiment we see before we every midfield signing and they usually just end up being pace merchants with no composure or end product.

Does not seem like a signing that will push us forward just more of the same and not a great injury record to boot.

Would rather the money be spent elsewhere

Totally understand the scepticism given what we witnessed under Poch / Conte / Mourinho. But the things that reassure me are:

1. The club have been on a big PR campaign about how we will do things differently

2. Ange and Poch have been on “The Rest Is Football” and put in record how they were not backed with players they wanted so this is in the public eye at the moment.

3. When RDZ was appointed under the most extreme of circumstances, the noises were that his preference was to wait till the summer but that the Tottenham project was too good to turn down - in terms of both the size of the club and the footballing vision. I assume he’s got a lot of say.

4. RDZ is outspoken and they will know this. I don’t think he’ll tolerate £60m of his budget on an attacker that he is not happy with.
