Finishing 6th out of 366 is a nice stat.

It always amuses me, (except when it irritates me when people talk of midtable mediocrity, reffing to finishing say 9th or 10th in the Prem

For me, midtable mediocrity is somewhere around where Preston or Posh finished. but when you see how many former Lge clubs have slipped out of the top 100, you could argue it's something like where Rochdale finished.

Interesting to see some of the teams that won the Southern Lge, including us of course.

It's not 100% correct anyway, my home town club got promoted and it's not indicated on there.

Stat? Otherwise known as a Ranking - or "the leagues piled on top of each other".

6th in the Prem is the same as 6th best team in the English (and partially welsh) League, 6th out of 100, or 200, or 366.

I'd jokingly say "Tim?", but for once I would actually be wondering if it were!

I love these sort of things. Can make almost anything sound more impressive than it is.

I mean I can categorically state that on a number of occasions I effectively shackled an England international out of games, who plays for (on the basis of this table) one of the best clubs in the country. I was also best mates with a league champion that's still playing.

Now it all loses it's potency when I then fill the blanks that the England international was two times capped Bobby Zamora, most of the times I shackled him effectively were in PE lessons where I was (at the time) taller, more athletically built and faster and that more times than not the "shackling" was while playing rugby. Oh and the League Champion former best mate was a Conference winner who now plays for Bishop's Stortford.

True, but to have got to that elevated level of being amongst the top 10 per cent of football, the elite of the country, that is an achievement, however finishing bottom of the Prem is in itself of course not an achievement, but getting there was.
Finishing 6th out of 366 places us in the top 2%,the very Mensa level of football

Finishing 9th puts a team in the top 3%, that's a long long way from mediocrity, as finishing 9/10th is often described as.

I don't understand why some people have to be sarcastic. Isn't it good to consider how high the pyramid is that we sit so near the top of. So many clubs who were once near or at the top have fallen back, so many other clubs have risen so far over the years, some like Wimbledon and Wigan to fall back again.

You go into every thread slamming Levy and ENIC and calling for them to be hung, drawn and quartered and fed to the fans, stating we should win trophies and a high league finish isn't good enough, we were better in the 60's etc etc - then you create a thread praising our consistency and league position and how that makes you smile!!!

Nothing's been revealed, except to me, and maybe some others, the detailed rankings of the pyramid.
