How did AVB have a different brief from Redknapp?Of course we are still going for top 4....but AVB had a different brief to Redknapp, and Poch will have a different brief to AVB.
Its naive to think that Levy is just saying "get top 4" to every manager, with zero consideration to the the current events.
AVB did not have a squad it tatters when he took over.....why would Poch have the exact same brief..?
The way I see it, it's what represents a good idea vs the patience of Levy and a large section of the fan base. We've seen how quickly Levy wields the axe. I wouldn't be surprised to see it all over again if Poch doesn't deliver, or at least show credible signs of being able to do so with the first couple of seasons.
I agree that the new man should be given time to build. But the question is whether or not we have the club setup to allow that.
People were booing at AVB's second home game already, mate - lost cause from the startWas just about to say that. It probably didn't help AVB's and Sherwood's case that a large part or the majority of the fans base had lost faith in them. If everyone had stood behind them I'm not sure Levy would have sacked them as quickly as he did. That might not be true but it's just the feeling I get.
Yeah, it's distinctly possible. After all, Martin Jol lasted a lot longer and was arguably the most recent fans' favourite. Was just about to say that. that was because the fans had been used to dining in champagne and lobster and were suddenly being served pie and chips. The champagne might have been flat occasionally and the lobster tough to crack, but it was still lobster and champagne and not pie and chips.Yea, I heard about that. That can't happen again otherwise we'll just end up looking for another manager in a few months.
I think that speaks more about the 'fans' more so than understanding what a 'long term plan' actually meansthat was because the fans had been used to dining in champagne and lobster and were suddenly being served pie and chips. T
I have been involved in long term plans, and I have made a few of my own. I don't remember any of them involving the participants operating at half pace or inside operational capabilities from the get go - that was generally something that was the plan, once the building phase was complete and the plan throttled back to a maintenance phase.I think that speaks more about the 'fans' more so than understanding what a 'long term plan' actually means
(and modern society in general)
For me they have been pretty impressive considering the quality of their squad. Here are notable results in their 4 seasons under De Boer:
Spurs, letting the fans know whats going on since half time in that UEFA Cup match...Given that this talk started on Sunday and has only escalated since, is it odd we havent seen anything announced yet?
I would have expected a line on either ours or Southamptons website to say "Permission to talk..." or "..made an approach"....

For me they have been pretty impressive considering the quality of their squad. Here are notable results in their 4 seasons under De Boer:
2013/2014
1 - 1 draw vs Milan (H)
2 - 1 win vs Barca (H)
2012/2013
2 - 2 draw vs City (A)
3 - 1 win vs City (H)
2010/2011
1 - 1 draw vs Milan (H)
2 - 0 win vs Milan (A)
There's nothing outstanding and he's failed to qualify from his group for the 4 years he's had Ajax in the CL but I think certain individual results are impressive considering the players and resources he's had.
The club has zero responsibility to keep the general public informed as to their inner dealings - what a bizarre premise. Has never happened before and doubt much will change. We are notoriously bad at letting people know. Most often news comes from the other teams website (whoever we are dealing with).
All the reports of "Appoint in 48 hours" would mean today. Usually there is the process of dealing with the manager, then dealing with the club. Announcing an approach, which is usually then a foregone conclusion, then a day or so later announcing the acquisition.
It would be odd, imo, if we just announced the acquisition later.
What about FC Basel?Losing 6-1 on aggregate against Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League is a major blot on any European record though.
What about them?
And then they finish above us :kaboullol:...:chadliblow:
