Manager Mauricio Pochettino

Jamie Redknapp football genius

Will he be able to bring the best out of Erik Lamela? Being Argentinean will help; they spent an awful amount of money on him and it hasn't really worked out."

Guess 'Arry and AVB were part Welsh. This coaching lark is a piece of piss, just need to go nab ourselves a Togolese coach and Adebayor will be bagging trebles every week. If we can find a half Brazilian, half French Physio too then Sandro and Kaboul will never be injured again.

Oh, and if you need reminding how much of a cunt Neil Ashton is, give this a read.
The thing with Ashton is I can't tell if he writes such crap to get clicks or he genuinely believes it. Bizarre article filled with contradictions and misinformation. For example why is he basing world support on stadium size?
It is working though my blood is boiling reading it.

Only the Bleacher report but according to them we have the number 6th fan base in the prem, might be true might not be but to call us as small as Sunderland is bizarre and even Neil Ashton cannot believe that unless he is a complete bellend. We are a 2nd tier club level with Everton and Newcastle IMO behind top tier Man United, Liverpool and Woolwich. Not sure what you class the money cheats Man Shitty and Chavs, the Lance Armstrong tier of teams they don't fit into any catagory.

Seems the Saints fans are rapidly turning on Poch....!
"Mauricio Pochettino is a hypocrite for leaving Southampton to join Spurs

So Mauricio Pochettino is now the Tottenham manager – words that inspire feelings of betrayal and disappointment as I write them.

Throughout his reign as Saints boss, the Argentinian struck me as a man of honour, someone who stuck steadfastly to his footballing philosophies and who rallied the players to like his style of management.

He even refused to bow to the demands of the media to speak English in press conferences, despite the fact that he can speak the language well.

The announcement of his defection to Spurs has effectively made Pochettino a total hypocrite in my eyes – a man who walked away as soon as he got the chance, a man who only had his best interests at heart, rather than those of our club, our players or the supporters.

He kept up a front for week after week in interviews; ‘I’ve got a year left on my contract, I’m not interested in rumours, I’m waiting for the new plan from the board blah blah blah’. All of that was total nonsense in hindsight. He was desperate for a move to a bigger club.

We’ve got to forget about Pochettino and focus on the future as we have before

Tottenham fans will find this out for themselves in a year or two if he does well; a bigger club than them will come calling and he’ll jump ship again. Either that or he will fail to meet the ambitions of the chairman Daniel Levy and get sacked as so many others have done before him.

It must be said that Pochettino did do an excellent job at St Mary’s but was it one that has really merited such a move? I’d argue not.

We finished eighth with a record Premier League points tally for the club, which was a fantastic achievement. But I’m sure with the group of extraordinarily talented young players we have that another quality manager would have delivered a similar result.

Of the three signings that he made, only Dejan Lovren can be considered a success at this point, with Victor Wanyama plagued by inconsistency and Dani Osvaldo a total disaster.

So I’m certainly not going to spend a great deal of time stewing over Pochettino leaving us.

Like many Saints fans, I was genuinely gutted when Nigel Adkins was sacked - but we moved on and improved. When Alan Pardew went and was replaced by Adkins in 2010, we thought our club was on the downturn – and yet we achieved back-to-back promotions.

So I think we’ve got to forget about Pochettino and focus on the future as we have before, and trust in the board to make an appointment that will continue to take Saints forward. They’ve also got to stay strong and stop Spurs from poaching our players as well – because that’s something no Saints fan could stomach.

But I’m hopeful that they will get it right and that Tuesday will not mark the end of the rise of Southampton. Because that really would be worth getting upset about."

Who cares! If we all start to get moralistic now with modern day football, there's no hope?

Ive more important things to worry about like trying to find a lamp shade for my lounge?

You know what fascinates me is how we somehow accuse and sometimes attribute a style of play to a manager when it is often the product of the players you have. AVB is playing attacking football with Zenit , having players like Witsel and Hulk at his disposal, Meanwhile Delboy has QPR playing the most BORING football imaginable with players like joey barton in midfield.

Yes, lets play more attacking football but lets remember you need the players to play that brand of football. we played 4-2-3-1 with Mod, VDV and Bale years ago. They were the free flowing football. As hard as we try to hammer the square pegs in the round holes , Paulinho, Sandro, Capoue and Dembele will never be able to offer more than scott parker in terms of trying to pick a long rage pass or anything creative .

I reckon Pochettino will struggle but he will have to be more flexible than AVB and could possibly flesh out a whole new system with the players he has. I am excited by a front 3 of Lamela, Eriksen and holtby, however not impressed by the personnel in central midfield who will play behind them.

To be honest I think most Spurs fans would be happy to get to a cup final and win some silverwear rather than the main goal of being top 4. Also the Europa league leads to a Champion League spot if you win it. Possibly our best chance rather than top 4?

You do have a good point but I think Paulinho will surprise a good few people next season.

Has the appointment of a manager (Head Coach) ever been the catalyst of so many 'top five things to improve' lists in the media as Pochettino's?

Every paper has a variation, well the same list with a variety of wording making the same point.
