We need to play with two strikers instead of two defensive midfielders.

We spend too much time in our own half passing it sideways and backwards. Find a player that can do the job on his own, put Soldado for all I care up front alongside Kane and we'll have a more balanced team. We're relying far too much on Kane; if we want him to develop further, he's going to need support because unlike Bale, he hasn't got the pace to free himself after being double/triple marked.

Bentaleb fucked up against United but I think we all know he's a better player than that. He can do the job on his own, our defensive line should be able to do their job without two people breaking down the play in the centre of the park.

I'd like to see us sign Bender, Lavezzi and Berahino. But that won't happen so I'm happy to just stick with what we have. 4-2-3-1 is shit. Go 4-1-3-2 and have Bentaleb as a lone CDM. Put Berahino (or Soldado) if we don't sign anyone up front with Kane and we'll have far more options.

If we signed no one else we'd finish 5-7th. If we signed all we need we'd finish 4-5th.

Like I keep saying, we've hit our ceiling in the current circumstances.

Are you assuming we keep Soldado in that scenario? At least we'd then have a striker to play but 95%+ want him gone regardless!

I think if he goes and we signed nobody else 7th would be a struggle, certainly without ditching the cups. Kane gets a knock or ill and we'd be fucked, a 6-8wk period without him will see us really flounder. 2-3 injuries and we'd be stretched all over. With Poch's expectations and for his system to work.....we were nackered last year so I'd fear the same but perhaps a worse outcome.

People seem to be hitting the panic button a bit to hastily. By no means at all is our business in the window complete. Yesterday we outplayed Man Utd at Old Trafford with a squad who have just got back from playing 2 games in Germany. We're not far off having it right. Poch has pretty much confirmed we should be announcing a signing this week, fingers crossed it is a striker. Then I think we only need a cdm and maybe another striker then we're set up nicely.

Goalkeepers.
Lloris/Vorm

Defenders.
Walker/Trippier/Alderweireld/Vertonghen/Dier/Wimmer/Davies/Rose

Midfielders.
Bentaleb/Mason/Alli/Dembele/Lamela/Pritchard/Townsend/Chadli/Eriksen/Carroll

Strikers.
Kane. (Chadli can be used as a striker)

I think if we can bring in Berahino, NJie' and a solid CDM, someone like Kramer or Illaramendi then we have the squad to crack the ceiling and reach the top 4.

It's all ifs and buts though mate. What suggests to you that we are going to get both Njie and Berahino plus a defensive midfielder? The way I see it and this is from experience supporting this Club under levy is we will scramble around trying to sign Berahino towards the end of the window. We will fail to sign him and go for some cheap alternative instead. Then we will all sit here pissed off asking why is levy doing this again??? Same old shit different day. Nothing suggests to me we will buy Njie and Berahino especially together

The positive performance against United should have no bearing on our transfer strategy one way or the other. Besides the obvious that it's just one game, I'm not convinced this is currently a very good United team, even if a few weeks or months from now they might be. We still need what we need.

Berahino - ITK seems wild now
Bender - ITK seems wonky now
Njie - ITK none. 48 hours is an Eddie Murphy film

Anyone else ? Nope

Thought not.

Fucking hell. Not even Ryan Babel in a helicopter.

ENIC - FUCK OFF please xxx

[formation=41212, Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Bender, Lamela, Lavezzi, Eriksen, Kane, Berahino][/formation]

I'd be happy with that. Lavezzi is a tad old but he has the experience and tekkers. Having an experienced Argentinian winger whose been there, done that and got the T-shirt might be useful for Lamela.

Bender is a proper CDM. Unlike Bentaleb and Mason who aren't physical enough and then of course, Berahino would add something extra in attack. We play too much football in our own half, we need to start pushing the ball forward instead of backwards/sideways and putting the ball in the (opposition's) net.

The likelihood of all of this happening is slim. Especially as Poch and Levy want to use youth players. But they can't expect to get into the top four with the team that they currently have. United, City, Chelsea, Liverpool and the scum cunts who I shall not name (who can't even beat West Ham) spend more and bring better players in. The team with the better players usually finish higher in the league (common sense). So if Levy has the audacity to turn around at the end of the season and sack Poch he can suck my left nut. It's like giving a handyman a hammer and telling him to screw in a lightbulb with it. It's not going to work.

Lennon? Lennon was average. It was all BALE.

So let me get this straight, you think Bale is a typical winger? You think THE MOST EXPENSIVE PLAYER IN HISTORY is something we can repeat in over a 100 years as a club?

He played in the CENTER in his most prolific season. Lennon can't even get in the team.

So the very best we ever had, we just about scraped 4th.

It's why I scoffed at the Kono brigade. Bale is a superstar. Yes I would want a winger if it was gareth fucking Bale.

The odds of us getting one like him are almost nil.
Bale played in the center in his most prolific season for us? Ok, mate. Lennon wasn't average under Redknapp or Jol for that matter, he was well above average. Fuck wingers? Please

we have a better team this year already
No doubt, but teams around us have strengthened as well

No doubt, but teams around us have strengthened as well
i don't know how can anyone can deny that.
Trippier > Yedlin, and before him Naughton
Alderweireld > Vlad and Kaboul put togheter
Wimmer seems like he will fight for a spot in the XI with Vertonghen, looks a gem.
Alli in and Stambouli, Paulinho and Capoue out, Alli did amazing in MKDons and did very well in pre-season agaisnt teams with quality.

Now, we need a DM, winger and a striker and we can fight for the top 4 without fear.

Can be biased, but our defenders look better on paper than Scousers, Scum and Citeh. We have for the first time in many years two great players for every position in the defence.

2-3 injuries and we'd be stretched all over.

I think that's a slight exaggeration. The squad is very flexible.

RW - Lamela, Townsend, Chadli, Yedlin, Dembele, maybe even Trippier
LW - Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli, Pritchard, Oduwa, maybe even Onomah
AMC - Lamela, Chadli, Eriksen, Dembele, Onomah, Alli, even Kane. Quite a few options here.
CM - 7-8 guys
RB - 3 guys + Youth
LB - 3 guys (Bentaleb)
RCB - 3 guys + CCV
LCB - 2 guys

With the current youth prospect I don't think you need to worry too much about that. Even up top, Lamela did a good job, Chadli can do a job too. If Kane, Lamela and Chadli get injured, then I agree, but that's the only trio of players I can think of which would leave us extremely thin. Everywhere else is covered.

I'm not going to get into the whole 'IF we don't sign a striker, IF Kane gets injured, IF it's 6-8 weeks' point because when you use that many 'ifs' anything in the world seems apocalyptic. We will sign a striker and that's the end of that.
