THST are a bunch of clueless mugs. Based on everything I have observed over the years, this is the conclusion I have come to. Joe Lewis won't invest in the club. He has told Levy all transfers must be financed through sales, fair enough. This is why we always seem to break even every season with transfers. But where the ball has been dropped is our entire transfer strategy. There have been so many big decisions we got wrong.£300m of in comings and outgoing, many managers, Comolli, Baldini, Mitchell . whatever department or scouting system we have is run similar to some inefficient government deparment that does not know its head from its arse. We have sustained too many 'hits' to compete on reinvested player sales.

If we weren't building a new stadium, i'd struggle to differentiate the difference between us and everton or southamton. we were outiside the pack chasing =top 4, now we have drifted even further away

I'm as cheesed off as anyone about the lack of cover up front but for the love of god can we knock of this rubbish about this being the weakest or most unbalanced squads in Premier League history. I can still recall with blood curdling clarity Bunjevcevic, a sweeper, playing left back, Anthony Gardiner, a towering centre back, filling in at left midfield, our striking options being so dire that we had to bring in Andy Booth from Sheff Wed on loan. I can still remember the Gary 'Ginger Pele' Doherty experiment where took a clumsy and positionally unaware centre back and and stuck him up front. I can still remember transfer windows where our ONLY signing was a midtable Japanese holding midfielder on loan who never, as far as I'm aware even made our bench. I remember our striking options being so feeble that the message boards went into meltdown when a Chinese trialist by the name of Qu Bo was denied a work permit. I can still remember us signing Paul Konchesky, a pretty bargain basement left back and playing him on the wing, so lacking in wingers were we. I can remember Martin Jol having to play Michael Brown out on the left, that's how unbalanced we were.
Sorry to go off on one but it has to be said under Levy we have had more atrocious windows than good ones. In fact the only good ones I can recall were under Redknapp (barring the last one, where I suspect Levy had already decided to make a change) but the key was, as a side we were already flying and so could add a few top ups here and there. For most of the rest of the time under Levy transfer windows have been desperate attempts to solve a crisis, whether that be splurging loads of cash on cack or spending sod all and watching the side plummet. The manager always paid for it.

Obviously it would have been great if we signed a striker, preferably Austin, but we have had a great window tbf.

In terms of adding players who have bright futures and will be worth more in 2-3 years than we paid? I totally agree. And that goal is compatible with the goal of putting a good team on the field.

But when you let the former get in the way of the latter, you have failed, utterly and totally.

Just imagine if we'd been Woolwich and been the only team in the top 5 European Leagues NOT to sign an outfield player. Just imagine.

serious question, is this the weakest overall squad that we have had in the premier league era, looking at the strength of depth and the actual quality of the majority of the players I would suggest its a possibility

Funny thing is, if we'd have left it all until the last minute and bought Son, Alderweireld and N'Jie today lots of people would be much happier with our window.

So many expect the last day to be a big deal and forget the players we've already signed.
