He definitely deserves another season, I still think fans have massively overrated the quality of this team. Can’t believe I’ve had to argue with people that players like Johnson are not good enough and never will be good enough to be a starting front 3 player for a team wanting to challenge for leagues.

I would like to see what his philosophy looks like with a front 3 with some technical ability and a proper holding mid. He obviously needs to have a rethink on his stance on set pieces though, it’s not just defensively either, that lot down the road and Man City are both in the top 3 for set piece goals scored, it’s a massive tool we’re missing out on.

We know how this board operates I’ve given up on hoping they will finally fully back a manager, so our scouts and recruitment team have to get it right this summer, we can’t afford to waste 100 mil on Richarlison/Johnson level players. Our big money purchases have to be players that dramatically improve on what we already have, not just be decent squad players that may or may not improve.

Massive summer ahead but I still believe with the right players Ange can be successful here, his philosophy is the way to go.
Ffs he wanted BJ!

The thing is how long do fans put up with it. We haven't had a lot of games to play this season . Apart from the first 10 games it's been pretty poor below average. I don't know how we are 5th to be honest. The Liverpool and city games will be massive to him the other games also but more so.if we get turned over 3 and 4s I could see him walking he was even questioning himself yesterday saying the message is not getting through
We’ve had precious little to cheer about all season. Those home wins against Man U last August, the Dippers in September and the Robbie Williams lark seem like a long long time ago. Out of both domestic Cups at practically the first hurdle and no European Football (albeit I won’t blame Ange for that).

List of managers and wins from first 33 league games since 1990:

Conte - 20
Postecoglou - 18
Villas-Boas - 18
Redknapp - 17
Pochettino - 17
Mourinho - 17
Jol - 14
Hoddle - 13
Livwrmore and Clemence - 12
Francis - 11
Shreeves - 11
Ardiles - 9
Ramos - 10
Graham - 9
Love this list. Some surprising results. AVB is in 3rd and he went on to become one of our most loathed managers in recent history. Both Redknapp and Poch are behind him. The two trophy winners are rock bottom.

We all knew him not taking the league cup seriously would bite him in the arse. There's no way our players (and fanbase) would already be "lacking belief" if we actually went as far as we could have gone with it. He consciously picked an inferior squad thinking it was beneath his league ambitions. That one's on him for sure, it could have completely changed our season.

This seems a recurring theme. It's the players fault, not the managers. We get new players and a new manager yet it's still the players fault.

So what the fuck do Spurs managers get paid for??

Ok if you keep changing managers and the outcome is the same then whose fault is it?

The concern is the team not improving under Postecoglou as the season has gone on. That's on him and makes him a risk going forward.

On the other hand this player list has a ceiling of top 5-8 with any any manager you get in.

Yeah even if the tactics are shite surely he can motivate the players to put the effort in , press , run more than the oppo, etc. we ain’t seen any of that !

I think he's one of the best motivators going around. His previous squads would have run through brick walls for him. That its not happening suggests some players are not buying in, and is exactly what Postecoglou has said is happening. Some players would know they're targetted for not being around next season and may not agree with that.

Who goes- him or them?

2-3 important signings would see this squad really push on next year. city aint going to be the same, the signs are already there and they have this charge thing coming back at them. the scum are in pole position for next year and i dont think they are that great.

problem is we need a manager that actually knows what hes doing.

Since game 10, we’ve picked up 34 league points out of 72 in 24 league games. For a bit of context, In that same timeframe from Game 11 onwards, Everton have picked up 35 points and that includes a record 13 league games without a win over a near 4 month period from mid December to early April.

24 league games is a long period of time. It’s essentially two thirds of a season, 6 months. It is alarming how we have shown no signs of improvement in so long and how just about every team in the league can counteract us. Ange is going to get next season, the start of it at least anyway. I have seen absolutely nothing from him all season though that convinces me other than he’s out of his depth. There’s a reason why he’s pushing 60 and has only managed in the likes of Australia, Japan and Scotland.

This is where Ange's questionable adaptability comes into play imo. Teams have learned how to slow us down and stop those fast attacks/crosses. I respect him sticking to his philosophy and taking the time to get the fundamentals right, but if he can't learn to adapt somewhat he won't be here long
Teams have not slowed us down. It’s that we take forever to get the ball forward. The CBs and goalie have to have 50 touches first. The FBs run forward into positions they are never gonna get the ball and just crowd the space so offering no out ball from the CBs. It’s easy for oppo to get back into position.

Very tough draws though , City are in the final , so nobodies managed to stop them and Fulham away is a tricky game especially as Ange was still trying out players because of our ridiculous pre- season schedule. Need to bear all this in mind.

I still have faith in Ange. He's the first manager I've liked in a long while and whatever problems we've got, he'll sort them out.

The problems we're seeing now are the same problems that have been dogging us for the last five years. It's not a situation that's going to fix itself overnight but with Ange I feel we have someone who is determined to change things and be successful. I never felt that with Mourinho, Nuno or Conte.
