Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He understands rivalry just fine. Ever been to an old firm match? One team of cunts against another, but it’s a sight and sound to behold. Something everyone should witness at least once.

The rivalry there far exceeds ours, in every way.
Nope, I've never been to an old firm match.

Maybe he understands rivalry's but didn't realise how much we do dislike Woolwich as a fanbase.

No way, they would have laughed and said typical Spurs winning to help their biggest rivals while playing like total cunts when it really mattered against everybody else.

Losing tonight wasn’t the issue. Being fucking spineless against Woolwich, chavs, Liverpool and fucking Newcastle is the issue.

The idea other fans would have respected us for winning is absurd. Actually they would have taken the piss even more and we’d be even more of a laughing stick, not less.
We just know different people in that case. Everyone I’ve spoken to in the last few days went the respect route.

I can't fathom caring what another set of supporters' opinion of us is, honestly.

You really should. You’ve to put up with the accents and the smell, but the noise is spectacular.

I think he didn’t understand a fair whack of fans hate Woolwich more than love us. That’s not a dig, as the circumstances tonight make that plausible. But for one night, it’s been true. Hopefully back to normal in the morning.

I wonder if there's something more going on than just his issue with fans not wanting to hand Woolrich the title? By saying 48 hours it points to that, but then he talked about the foundation and having to reassess what he needs to do about things. There's nothing he can do about the fans, we think what we think. It's not like he can go out in the transfer window and get better fans. This is a manager who has been around football for all his life. He knows how fans feel about rivals and, more importantly, how they feel about their team whether the trophy cases are full or not. Why would you not listen to what fans were saying about the game in that context and just shrug it off and move on? And why say what he did about the last 15 years? It comes off like someone picking a fight, but with who? Going back through his career, Postecoglou has reacted with some heat when challenged. But who challenged him? The foundation remark makes me think he's had some issue with either team management or some players. There has to me more to the story than just fans having mixed feelings about one game.
it does seem like something is going on behind the scenes. i get the impression they arent fully playing for him, then you have the bentancur outburst earlier.

if this is true he wont last 6 games into next season.

The Spurs fans that are getting their knickers in a twist over Ange’s comments tonight need to give their heads a wobble and stop taking this as some sort of personal insult.

Ange Postecoglou is not a Tottenham Hotspur fan. He is an employee who is paid to win football matches and to try and make us successful on the pitch. His comments tonight were not personal. He was not calling out the fans specifically. His comments were by and large absolutely spot on. Just as Antonio Conte’s comments were by in large spot on. Just as Mauricio Pochettino’s comments were absolutely spot on when he was manager towards the end of his tenure.

From my reading, it’s pretty clear it’s the ownership and the general culture of mediocrity that is strangling the club that he is calling out here, not the fans.

Anges comments clearly didn’t come about just as a result of tonight’s match. My reading of them is, like many of our previous managers, he’s come to realise over the last few weeks and months that the culture from the top down at the club is pretty rancid, that theres
no real incentive to be successful on the football pitch and his frustrations boiled over tonight with all the journalist’s patronising questions.

My only hope now is that Daniel Levy and the board actually listen to this man and the message he’s trying to get across, rather than throw their toys out the pram and press the nuclear button as they did when Conte called them out in a similar fashion. The ball is well and truly in Levys court.
Listen to what? He didn't say anything. Didn't criticize the fans, the players, or the front office. All I know from what he said was that he's angry.

Hypothetical, Rangers are playing Aberdeen knowing that a win hands Celtic the title. If Aberdeen win they can take the title in a home game against Livingston, and Celtic end the season trophyless. What do Rangers fans want?
Almost certainly to sniff some glue and beat their wives.

I get the point, but like I did, you’ve gone to the extreme here. Rangers hate Celtic more than they love Rangers all the time. Protestants that don’t practice religion, but hate Catholics. So they’d always go the route of Celtic not winning. But that’s been breeding for centuries.

And Aberdeen would get pumped by Livi anyway.
