Funny thing is, I've clearly been swimming upstream for months about not liking him and wanting him gone.

We controlled the Woolwich game as well as we controlled the City game, but against City we didn't score an own goal in the first 15 mins!

I wanted us to lose as well, by the way, I love the fact Woolwich's title chances have swung from +80% to now 10% or whatever it is. Why do fans have to be so precious and butt hurt? Sorry mate in every way you cut this us (including me) fans look like tits. But I can own this, does it change my feelings? No. If we had to play the game again at the weekend I'd still want us to lose. I'm okay saying this, it is what it is. Such is the consequence of fandom we consume our football, I also know every other fan in the world would also want this, probably the only exceptions are fans of clubs like PSG where a trophy is 100% guaranteed before you kick a ball.
The one thing however that absolutely has to be changed is to rid this attitude from within an elite sporting environment, well to have this attitude means by definition it doesn't constitute an elite sporting environment. We aren't one. If we want to win all the shiny things we covert it's only possible if we change this. I'm not so reactionary as to say they should be sacked, I'm not aware of who the individuals are and the context in which things were said, maybe it's as easy as there are lessons to be learned, but I do trust Ange's judgement on the next call on dealing with this.
I mean you no ill my friend just passionate about this issue which gets me spitting a few feathers. Personally, I find Ange's comments quite liberating, it's a huge box ticked in the mentality dept. I'm confident on this front it's what we need. There are loads of other boxes that still need ticking but this is a biggie.

Can't imagine he's going to be offered a job at another top club based on 1 season in the PL where he finished 5th and played the final 1/4 season in bottom half form. Liverpool will be the hottest job on the market this summer.
Postecoglou has spent the last month creating and sustaining drama. Spurs were coming to the end of a season with a mix of good and bad. He still has the support of most fans, there's not a hint of him being fired. From all accounts he'll get some positive additions in the transfer window. Why is he chasing drama?

If the roles had been reversed, and we were in Woolwich's position the whole country would have demanded a Gooner loss.
I see it more pragmatically I think, had there been something tangible on the line for us then I'm sure I'd have wanted us to win the same as I want us to win every game, but this very specific scenario there really wasn't.
The chance of 4th, which the manager has played down as an achievement every step of the season, and only if Villa don't get a result on the final day, wasn't it for me.
Sacrificing something meaningful to scupper them, cutting our nose off to spite out face, yeah that would've been small time loser mentality worthy of Spammers, this was just a nothing game and I'm well happy the result makes it less likely Woolwich win the league.
I find it rich for Ange to turn round and slam the supporters in this scenario when he's overseen a series of gutless displays leading up to it and received strong support throughout.

In the cold light of day, this is all just deflection from an absolutely awful end to the season where a top 4 place was there for the taking, given the patchy form of Villa. It's not "changing the culture" or any bollocks like it, the culture is always good when these managers win a few games. As soon as the pressure comes, they look for anything to blame other than the way they set the team up.
Ange ain't the guy. I have done a 180 on him, I think we are just wasting time with him next season in the name of giving him a chance.

Like it or not, champions league football is huge for clubs. Massive. And I can tell you this for a fact, as I have seen PL player contracts, every player and member of the coaching team get's handsomely rewarded for qualifying.
Financials aside, club profile, attractiveness to players and sponsors, TV exposure, growing the fan base.
Like it or not - it's much, much, much bigger than winning an FA cup these days.
And there's probably a 50/50 shot Villa lose this weekend. They're stumbling now playing on empty. Palace suddenly look half decent and are getting results. Beat Liverpool at Anfield, stuff Spammers etc. There is a very real chance that a win against City and Sheff Utd would have seen us qualify.
And even a possibility that Arse bottle it against Everton at the weekend and a win Vs City wouldn't have mattered anyway. Arse were nervous against United. They'll be nervous against Everton IMO

I think the season on the whole ha been acceptable, good even, on paper.
The fixture list that put this recent run together, and where it has fallen, has been unkind. Generally, if those results had been scattered around earlier in the season they wouldn't have felt quite as demoralising.
The failure to get 4th isn't down to the last 6 games, it's down to losing at home to Villa, taking 1 whole point from West Ham and Wolves, getting pumped by Fulham.
The big issue for me is not 5th, I'd have been happy enough with that at the start, I'm happy enough with it now. The problem is trajectory, that doesn't look good for us right now. We've spent all season mocking Chelsea, but come the final standings they could be ahead of us, even if we win Sunday and they're not, it's galling how close they have managed to get to us.
They're finishing strong too, that's a better position to be in, like in the play offs, you'd rather be the side finishing strongly and taking 6th than the side failing to get automatic promotion and finishing 3rd.

Son is one of the longest serving players at the club, probably based on interviews the most liked and respected member in the group, he's one of our most famous players, and also one of our best players.

I agree 5th is solid enough to get Ange a second season. The doubt in my mind is trajectory, as you say. Outside of the first ten games, it's been pretty poor, even with players returning. Even then, I still said to give him next season.
But what I got from the presser was big time end days Jose/Conte. The "I'm great and you'd be great too if you just followed my lead." He doesn't have the track record to pull off that act, Jose and Conte won major honours. So instead, it just feels like deflection from losing games and making poor selection decisions. That's what has made me think that the trajectory isn't going to change and Ange ends up sacked after about 15 games next season.
