But we didn’t look like scoring at all which is the point. Everyone keeps going on about attacking football, front foot, pressing etc yet we didn’t and couldn’t do any of that today. Bcos the oppo upped the tempo and didn’t give us room. Which to be fair we should have been doing to them but we have too many lightweight players or one who go missing.
Well we was very lucky that we didn't lise by more.
Palace should of scored 3 or 4 , that's how bad the team was.

Interesting to hear boos and mutterings against Ange from the hardcore away support after Palace.

The people who go to the majority of games are a decent barometer of what the fans are feeling. Villa becomes huge if we fail to turn up tonight.

Thing is with such poor away form you can understand where they are coming from.

On here you often see people say I’m turning off the game and going to do something else. That’s not an option when you’re in some random stadium somewhere.
I think if we lose tonight and Sunday then, the atmosphere will take a darker turn, and people will have every right to complain.

Ah I see it's been a lovely few days in here.

Wonder how tonight's match thread is going...

My interpretation of this is.... I know we are lacking experience/leadership but I have good seeds and I would prefer to watch them grow organically. I don't know how long their growth will take, but it won't be 5 years! Staying with the gardening analogy, I could help them/us speed up the process along the way by inserting a rigged old stick (buying in a leader(s) for them to grow off/up but I won't!

My opinion of this..... This single, arrogant minded approach and Ange-Ball philosophy to the game in the EPL sounds and looks idyllic on paper but in reality its flawed.

My point...Don't hold your breath waiting for silverware of CL qualification just yet! Maybe in 4 years!!!

I think my biggest complaint continues to be that he insists on playing out of the back every single time Vicsrio gets the ball — even when we struggle mightily against the opponent press.
Turning the ball over in the last third as often as we do is going to produce a host of chances for the opposition.
I’d much rather Vic plays it out to FBs rather in our 6 yard box to CBs which is not good for your health.

People scoff at Napoli being top. As if the Serie A is shit. As if clubs like Inter and Juve are beneath us. The reality is Antonio Conte was a serial winner. Until he met Daniel Levy. He deserves a knighthood for getting us into 4th with the squad he had at his disposal.

He tried to call out the culture at the club, and fans turned on him. Fucking shambles.

Yes, but that wasn't the point. The guy was saying Conte would have stayed and I'm saying regardless he would've left after 2 or 3 years even if he won something here.
I was mainly having a pop at your degree of certainty. I don't know whether Conte would've stayed or gone had we won a trophy. You're the one who has all the definite answers

Excellent post.

I think Ange has gotten slack from a crowd of people who think he's brought back attacking football and that is good enough for them.

Yes, things had gotten to a bad place while Nuno had his cup of tea with Spurs, but are we really playing thrilling football? When not playing Everton or the Spam our attack has been dire, and we haven't impressed against a decent club in 6 months.
Man, don't forget our extraordinary performances vs Coventry, Qarabag, Ferencvaros, AZ...surely Real Madrid gonna come calling.

Also smashed the red mugs from up north. Forget they got a joke red after what 20 mins and that they're the worst Utd side like ever. I bet you if they'd scored during that good spell they had and made it 2-1, we'd have shat the bed and got a D...or L.

Even the West Ham game...they were making life real difficult for us in the first half then in typical Spam style capitulated rather spectacularly in the second, scoring a comical og, Todibo suddenly looking like a drunk 97yo. Sure Ange bringing Sarr on changed the game, but let's not act like it was a 100% straightforward 4-1 win.

Not all fans mate only those who refused to accept it.

I actually hate how teams play now. It just causes problems and people go on about high risk and reward but what reward do teams get from it. Very very rarely does a team play out and go up the pitch and score from it. I’m watch teams like Southampton,Ipswich and Wolves play like this and they’ll get punished every game for it. We are much better than them at it but we will still cause ourselves problems as Sunday’s goal came from it.
Goalkeepers are rubbish at taking the ball under pressure and they are the biggest problem in it. What they end up doing is panic and put their team mates in the shit or kick it long. Why not just do that anyway and take the risk out of it?
Fake stupid football.

We should be mixing it up more and be less predictable.
