The problem is we don’t know if he is capable of doing this project because he’s NEVER REMOTELY been in this situation before. He hasn’t managed anywhere near this level AND he’s never not had access to the best players in any league he’s operated in.
We will never know unless we give him some time. A season and 10 games is not much really, and despite what some say we're not in any danger here. Levy isn't going to let us get relegated or even close, so not sure why people are filled with such dread and panic.
At the end of the day its still football, and I think he now has better tools at his disposal than Celtic or Brisbane so yep the level is higher but he does have better tools to level things up. Everywhere he has gone its been a step up, so he has in some respects being preparing for this type of position by adapting to the new tougher challenges in each job he has taken.
I think part of the issue for some (this is not to you) is that he is Australian. This simple fact disqualified him right away in some people's eyes.
People are quick to dismiss him, but we have a guy that couldn't be more determined! He is not just here for a paycheck, he has a lot of doubters and you can see he wants to win trophies, prove them wrong and show his methods can win in the PL.
I wish we could all appreciate that and try to support him more... The big swings between in and out are pretty soul destroying.
This idea (not that you’ve said it but others point to it) that you have to give managers time as a default because of Fergie or Arteta is nonsense. There are way more times when a manager is given too much time and the inevitable should have happened sooner. Ten Haag. Soljskaer, Gerry Francis - look at the way Arse got rid of Bruce Rioch after one season to bring in Wenger etc.
You have to chart your progress subjectively along the way and essentially continually work out the main question for any manager i.e is he capable of getting more (or at least equal) out of this team than the sum of its parts.
In this sense, it’s always harder at THFC because the manager is always required to get more than the sum, because transfer wise we rarely dine at the top table because of our fuckwit chairman.
And Sunday was an absolutely shocking marker for tracking our progress. Coming off that 2nd half vs Brighton and in our next away game we produce that insipid garbage.
Our away form is absolutely shocking. At home we seem to be adept at putting away teams outside of those competing for the top 6. This pattern will NOT keep Ange in his job past the summer and rightly so. 2 big home games coming up now, can we dispense of some quality opposition at our own house - another progress marker.
Many of us are not Ange OUT, we’re just very concerned.
Well in fairness I have cited those two as reasons to be patient

Not just because of them alone though! I do believe he deserves the season at least unless we are not winning any games or some crazy situation like that. He has shown enough glimpses of what a final form Ange team could look like, and in all fairness I think not many could complain about that type of football... when it works!
Some progress I have seen are:
Defending has been worked on - set plays and high line goals... much better.
Attacking is starting to improve - less of that crab football, more good chances created and more goals scored.
Solanke is immense and he looks a great signing.
Problem though is in fixing that defensive stuff, now we are struck by a lot of individual errors costing us. Players are in position but still manage to fuck up.. not tactics. Ange needs to find the balance. Maybe Udogie is playing too much following his injury? Leading to quite a few mistakes. He is young though as well.
Away form.. yes its rancid. The Brighton and Palace games especially. I think in fairness to Ange this is not unique to him, it has plagued us for years. That said, he has to start getting them to be tougher and not being so damn complacent.
I really think the players are more to blame, they are a little immature and complacent. I think they see these shit stadiums of other teams and think they'll wipe the floor with them in 2nd gear because they are surrounded with such riches of stadium and training facilities. Might be wrong but its a natural human reaction sometimes, and given how young many of them are..
The response after the Brighton game was a good one, and after a break too. We at least broke a jinx of sorts and won against one of the top 3 (London team) rivals. Lets hope we have a similar response tonight and go out there fighting for every single ball, and be ruthless to get into the next round
By the way im sorry my post is so fucking long.. being succinct is difficult for me
