We are not way off it. We played United off the park and should have got results against Newcastle and Woolwich. We didn't exactly lose those games 3-0 and look hopeless. Lets have some perspective here. We can compete with all these teams
5/5 vs mainly dross and still riding our luck at times.I'm amazed how league position is even relevant after 9 games. such a small sample size. I never really start looking at the league position until close to Christmas. 4 defeats in 9 is poor but we have won 5/5 in the cup competitions so its not been a complete disaster. I think people need to relax a bit and appreciate its still October
Well he hasn't beaten them in the league playing their first team.

In other words, he's a yes man....Ange's results are similar to those of Mourinho and Conte, without the CL place of course. But he is not likely to criticize the board as those men did when they were done and wanted to take their money and go.
Ange is lucky to be at this level of football and he knows that if he doesn't want to blow his chance he needs to tow the company line and hope this project pans out. I expect his run will be longer than Mourinho or Conte for that reason, even if results don't improve. Ange is not likely to be rebuffed by Levy on transfers and say "Who's that guy think he is, I've got plenty of money and I can get another job in the first division of a big league anytime I want, I don't need this".
Levy only moved against Mourinho and Conte when insubordination happened, the results being mediocre wasn't enough.
What’s this process? There have been plenty examples that a manager doesn’t need fucking 2-3 years to improve how a team does.Let's try someone else, lets start the process again in the hope of the next person getting it right and if that doesn't work then what...?

Why not? A good manager is a good manager and can demonstrate his ability no matter the club and its circumstances.
You will never please everyone. This time last year we were top of the league, not in Europe and out of the cup. This year we sit in 8th, but have won all 3 European games and have just knocked City out of the cup.
The negative nancies will focus on us being in 8th and say they see no progress. The positive people will look at the fact that we have a big chance in 2 competitions now. I just checked Paddy Power and I see we are 7/2 to win the Europa League and 5/1 to win the EFL cup so we have a genuine chance of winning silverware this year. Maybe we shouldn't let the league position bother us for now?
They are being willfully obtuse. We are talking about the teams league form because that is what makes and breaks coaches. I mean I give you exhibit A Eric ten Haag winner of both the League and FA cups...Well he hasn't beaten them in the league playing their first team.
That's the question, it's not can Ange beat the best at midweek with them holding back, it's can he beat the best. So far 3 times from 14 by my count.
I don't know if I'd go so far as to say Ange is a yes man, but we've all met the type. He's prickly to reports and those seen as being down the food chain, but is very deferent to those above and makes sure he ticks the needed boxes to make his position with them strong. He's a man of ambition but also one who knows who is buttering his bread.

If we’re not comparing Spurs with other teams then why are you lot pushing the Arteta example as a reason to be patient with Postecoglou?![]()
We had two very shit patches last year - people conveniently ignore that from GW 16 to 32 we went on a run of P16 W10 L3 D3 averaging a fraction over 2 points a game.
I think we can challenge for 5th absolutely - Chelsea looks good to be fair but they have had hiccups. Villa has recently drawn with Ipswich and Bournemouth, and Brighton and Forest will fall away at some point....
We are further in the League Cup, and have European Football to contend with, which I feel we will get into the knockout stages for.
So while the league form is different feel to last, there is other stuff going on to encourage us - regardless of who the opponents are.
The Palace game and the second half vs Brighton have definitely given me pause and some concern but I'm not sure how anyone can write us off just yet - the league is still so tight and we have yet to play Chelsea, Forest and Villa - all above us who we can catch up 3 points to by beating them.
What your thoughts on the same questions?
You’re contradicting yourself in the same paragraph.A manager is only as good as it's players and the circumstances around him, countless examples of good managers failing at one club and succeeding at another because the context is entirely different.
You said a manager is as good as his players, if one has better players at a club chances are he should do better, but it’s not a given, because the manager has to find balance to make everyone tick and that doesn’t always work out as expected. You don't know what a contradiction is in that case.
And it also may help you to not cut off my posts and argue against the points you want to argue again, try reading and answering them in it's full context, all you're doing is confusing yourself.
