"Mo's a world-class player, but if you put him in our team at the moment, I'm not sure he would have the same impact because of the situation we're in as a group," said the Tottenham boss.

"He's playing in a fantastic team that are flying at the moment. I'd hazard to say that if you put Sonny [Heung-Min Son] in Liverpool's team, I reckon his goal-scoring return would be decent.

Hardly controversial, players thrive in better environments shocker but let's be offended by every little thing our manager says season 5 episode 2

Surely the effort they put is what you would expect of them anyway? That is minimum requirement.
Ideally yeah but we've seen plenty of times players downing tools when they don't like a manager, here and at other clubs.

So them still playing for him is a positive in his favour as far as his character goes, which leads me to think that the other side of it, the actual coaching, must be especially poor to yield the results we are seeing on the pitch.

Nah, that was a dumb thing to say.

You can see the logic behind it, but a better way to get that across would be to say "injure half of the Liverpool squad for 3 months and see if Salah's goal output is the same", because the obvious paraphrasing you're gonna get from what he actually said is "put Salah in this shit Spurs set up and he'd struggle too, if Sonny was somehwere good I bet he'd be killing it..."

Watch the press conference, he adds context after he said it

You guys constantly read snippets of his comments which are taken out of context and get wound up by it.

It's not that deep

at least he's honest about it. That's why nobody can ever judge Solanke in this bogus set up.

I'm not that wound up by it.

He's given an easy snippet for the media, and other fans, to have another laugh at the club, that could have been easily avoided. Whether I've read/heard the entire quote is irrelevant to the point I made, about the obvious paraphrasing that was bound to come of it.

How long have you been following football, seriously?

Every manager has their quotes taken out of context for headlines, it's nothing new...journos are always fishing for quotes so they can headline them for engagement/ click bait and gullible football get's wound up by them, why are we so surprised that's happened here?

Whether you want to watch the PC or not, fine but the point still stands, every managers quotes get twisted for bait...it's up to grown adults to actually work out what he actually said and the context he said it in, if you're concerned about other fans laughing at us then that's on you.

Come on quit being a Karen

Which is why you don't say something so obviously stupid to give them easy ammo...

Seriously, it was so easy to get the same point across without focusing on the we're shit right now aspect, it doesn't matter if it's true, it doesn't matter of we all know it, you still don't speak the words out loud, no matter how much context you add around it.

Given how obvious the media tactics are, don't you think that our Manager should be smart enough not to throw himself into their trap?

I think it's a bit harsh. For example, they win 4-0 against Everton, 4-1 against West Ham, 4-0 against City away and yet every time any random 11 does well Ange completely changes the starting team midweek and at the next weekend. If we're looking to win 7 games in a row, I'd suggest not changing any winning team that we randomly stumble upon because if I was a player in that team I'd be lost myself.
Did you not notice we have 10+ players out?
How do you play the same team every game?

It was quite a good indicator I thought the other night of how much use XG is on its own, when on Monday night football they showed that Forest are 15th in the table for XG. Yet in the main table, they’re second.

XG can be useful in certain aspects, but you can’t just say a team is good or bad on XG alone.
Potter proved at 2 clubs that it's meaningless really.
High Xg to goal ratio at both Brighton and Chelsea..
The armchair experts blamed the forwards at both clubs, but the same forwards did better after he went.

It’s a totally dumb thing to say

His injuries excuses are wearing thin. His MF and attack has not had excessive injuries

If you put the entire Liverpool squad in Tottenham they would not have the same impact.

Oh wait…
As an experiment, I think they should simply swap our XI for theirs tonight, and then see who wins!
2nd leg, keep the players, but swap the managers, and see the outcome!

Alternatively, keep the players and managers as they are, and just play in each others kits...

Then we'll know if it's a Player thing, an Ange thing, or just a Tottenham thing!

ok dude I'll add it to the list

1) Doesn't look interviewers in the eye, sign of insecurity.
2) Coughs too much, probably made our players ill.
3) Stands there with his hands in his pockets, why doesn't he throw his hands about?
4) Made our players catch colds by doing naked rondos in the snow.
5) Why did he change his name, clearly a charlatan.
6) Has a fake injury crisis especially when he's injuring our players!
7) Never criticises the board, clearly Levy in - how dare he take responsibility for the signings
7) Rotates the team too much even though he has ran the players into the ground
8) Hasn't ever produced an away performance like Amorim did at Anfield in the 2-2 win.
9) Doesn't play the inexperienced Alfie Dorrington when we're down the bare bones, give the kids a chance!
10) Allow the press to take his comments out of context and put them in headlines, you know what the media are like!

The last two pages had only one post on them for me lol shows how much I’m ignoring
Makes me chuckle when I see a "page" of replies only has 2 or 3 posts.

He really needs this. A bad result here and it can very toxic. 12th in the league can only be rescued by fact we could win the League Cup

The best outcome for him here is that it isn't a cricket score. We aren't winning the league cup because we aren't beating Liverpool. There's no scenario where that happens. Even if we dug deep and kept it to 0-0 over 2 legs, they'd easily beat us on Penalties.
Make no mistake, "only" losing by 3 to them in the league match wasn't anything more than them taking their foot off the gas when they were 5-1 up. If they wanted to, they could have scored 7 or 8 and stopped our two 2nd half goals.
TBH, the same goes for that Chelsea game. 4-3 flattered us big time.

Stick all the Liverpool players in the Spurs side and watch them all get injured.

Go for it if you like I guess.

Does any of this change the fact that there was a very easy way to convey his point that wouldn't have given the media very easy pickings?
