Guys..I've never, ever, claimed to be some kind of ITK, but a reliable geezer I'm in occasional business contact with (yesterday afternoon being one such occasion) who liases regularly with the club is absolutely adamant that the decision has already been made to run with Ange next season.
This makes sense in what I think Levy wants, and that is he fancies Poch returning after the WC so will be very hesitant to bring someone in now to be potentially paying them off at the end of the season if they are shite!

To be honest it’s quite obvious. Spurs fans waiting for the club to make a statement when in reality the only statement they could make is that he’s sacked. Other than that he’s under contract and is the manager.

If we want to have a real go at the EPL and Champions League.
- Sack Ange and appoint a proper manager
- Vast improvements to medical department.
- Romero and Porro stay.
- New number 6 to replace Bissouma.
- Bring in the best goalkeeping coach alive to work with Kinsky and Vic.
- Sell Spence; and get 2 full backs who can compete with Porro and Udogie.
- If Richy isn't physically capable, sell and bring in a striker.
- Dragusin and Kulu will likely be out until later this year. We can't rely on 18 year olds to fill the void. Get some experience players (on loan) to fill the void.

I've heard several times that no decision has been made yet - I suspect it largely hinges on who they can get to replace him.

The trophy win was great but also some of the best times supporting Spurs was when we were going to places like Juventus in the CL and playing them off the park. Or when we beat Real Madrid at Wembley.

Or going unbeaten at WHL all season. That might sound odd, because last Wednesday was acutely better in absolute terms. But I can't help but feel that a one off almost fluke trophy win, is just that. A one off. It means nothing else if you aren't a side built to consistently challenge.

My connection to Spurs under Poch was the strongest I've ever had it. Ultimately I wanted Poch gone, because he never got the team over the line (and results and performances did drop off under him. His whole idea with building the midfield around Winks in a diamond formation was awful towards the end of his reign).

So there is a bit of irony there, because Ange got us over the line, but he's a shit manager and delivered a woeful PL season.

So what is it we are after? Is it trophies? or is it consistent success which might mean no trophies?

For me, it is consistent success. Trophies should be an outcome we get if we have a consistent side challenging at the top of the table. We want both of course, but it isn't guaranteed. Look at us under Poch and Woolwich under Arteta.

But I ask you this. Which fans do you think will be more excited about the upcoming league season? Woolwich or Spurs? Who do you think will have a better season? Woolwich or Spurs? It's going to be Woolwich sorry to say.

They are highly likely to finish in the top 3, possibly win the title, or at least go close, probably reach the latter stages of the CL. They've been doing this for a few years now. Yes their fans will moan they haven't won anything, football fans will always moan. But, they wouldn't swap their position for ours in a million years. They'll be jealous for a short while, that we won a trophy, and had some glory. But trust me, by next week they'll have forgotten all about it and will be excited to see their team win most weeks against PL and CL sides. And what will we be looking forward to?

We are likely to get dumped out of the CL, we might make it to the knock outs if we are lucky. Do we see a good domestic cup run? Maybe, but we will likely lose when we come up against a City or Liverpool (or Woolwich).

At the end of the day, I want to be able to go into every PL game each week, positive about my teams chances. Positive that we will see a manager who can adapt his tactics and watch us overcome the other teams. I want us to be sound defensively, and potent in attack.

I want to see us organised.

But ultimately, I want to see us win, often. I don't give a fuck if we win 30 games next season 1 nil. The style of football to me is secondary. I can get just as much enjoyment out of watching my team suffocate opposition to death, be miserly in defence and score from a set piece. Controlling teams. I'd much rather that then lose 4-3 playing gung ho.

Winning is entertaining, losing isn't.

Anyway, the reason i say this. Is because I see so many fans saying Ange needs to be kept on because he won a trophy. It's bollocks. The trophy was a one off.

Ange isn't going to deliver us the Spurs that we all want to see. A team challenging at the top of the PL. We need a different manager for that. I firmly believe with FP coming back, and a new manager, we can get back on that path. It won't be with Ange though.

He is incapable of it. He simpy isn't tactically savy enough, his way of playing is porous and so beatable. He's just a chancer, and next season will be a disaster if he continues in the role.

I'm torn because I know if we sack him then players like Romero and Porro could look to leave and there is part of me that thinks we can really build on this current group of players. Player for player, this is the best back 4 we've ever had and probably will ever have. Its a generational back 4. I'd love us to keep them and build on it.

But I'm not convinced Ange is the man to bring us forward. Its almost a shame that the players love him so much because it makes sacking him a massive gamble where it could ruin morale and we probably will lose Romero and maybe Porro too.

As things stand, it sounds like no players will want to leave if Ange stays. Maybe the sensible thing to do is keep him and see how this united group of players do under him next season. I'm torn really. Don't mind which way it goes. Just hope we make the decision next week and can start building for next season.

I don’t know what people are expecting. A statement saying the manager is not sacked isn’t happening. Some comments backing him maybe forthcoming but we all know they don’t count for much once he loses more games.
I’ve always said I think he starts next season.

I'm not. How is he an upgrade? What has he achieved in football management? If it means getting more out of average players, well that's also a Sam Allardyce achievement!!!

Unless Levy finds someone who is a clear-as-day upgrade, he will be on a hiding to nothing when he loses 3 games in a row (Levy and the new manager).

If you said to me at the start of the season, you can win the Europa (in my mind, UEFA) cup and get into the CL, but you have to finish 17th as a price to pay, I'd take that all day. Finishing 4th, 3rd and 2nd as we have in the past decade, meant f'all to me. Winning something was badly needed. Can't sack a manager for winning a trophy under challenging circumstances (back 5 injured all at once, playing kids all season, injuries to key players).

This makes sense in what I think Levy wants, and that is he fancies Poch returning after the WC so will be very hesitant to bring someone in now to be potentially paying them off at the end of the season if they are shite!
This is the scenario I see happening too. I really don't think Levy will sack him after lifting a pot and someone like Frank or Xavi or whoever coming in would be a gamble anyway. They would be on a hiding to nothing with the previous man having got the trophy monkey off our back.
Ange stays, see how it goes - if its not a disaster in the league and CL group stage by winter break he will see out the year with Poch back in 26 is my bet and tbh I wouldn't be against it if the touted managers were the alternative.

IMO any whispers or statements to suggest he is staying - from players or otherwise - is the 'default' I'd expect to hear and nothing more.

The only way we'll know he's actually staying is if he's on the pre-season tour, or if we start signing players for him. At the minimum, we won't hear anything at all about any changes until end of June (IMO) when the new footballing administration comes in (Vinai and, I assume, Paratici)

Certainly won't even know if Ange himself is wanting to stay on until he's back off his holiday. Despite the fact he's about to turn 60, he has school age kids. I imagine, because of that, he will want to - or be under pressure to - consider carefully about whether he wants to put his kids in a new school year only to be at risk of moving them anyway in October/November time (such is the pressure to start the season well).

I wouldn't put it past him to leave with the Europa on his mantle, reputation (contentiously) enhanced, rather than gamble and leave Ramos style

What's the point of having all these supposed football directors Vini, Paratici, Munn, Lange if they can't make the correct decision.

Winning the europa league is great for the club and a fantastic achievement but cup football isn't a measure of sustainability, unless the club is extremely consistent in winning them year after year. Which we in recent times are not.

22 league defeats....22. it is clear as day there is something fundamentally wrong with Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff.

We are never Pro active always hopeful and always reactive, we should be making clear and obvious steps to improve but it always feels undercooked.

We have got a head start now regarding champions league and we really need to put some distance between us and the rest of the chasing pack.

If Levy wants to sack him - he can't until Ange gets back from his holiday.
I suspect one factor will be their personal relationship.
It normally ends it breaking down - and the manager mouthing off about Levy and the club.

Ange has sort of done it - but nowhere near to the extent others did. We forget how crazy Poch went in the press towards the end. We don't know what is happening behind the scenes.

You really think this back 4 is better than prime Rose Toby Vert Walker? That's quite the statement.

Personally don't think they're in that bracket yet to be honest.
Yeah thats the only comparison and its close. Right now I can see why you'd have the Poch back 4 ahead as you can see their full careers.

Personally I think Porro Romero VDV and Udogie will all go onto have much better careers than the 4 you mentioned. Romero has already surpassed them. VDV is destined to become one of the best and will either do it with us or at a bigger club.

Porro might not get to Walker levels of success so he'd the debatable one. Prime Rose is better than current Udogie but I'd back Udogie to end up with a much better career.

Big statement but I could see us reflecting on this back 4 in 5 years time and kicking ourselves for not building on it. Could see all 4 of them playing for the best teams in Europe if they can't make it work here.
