I'm torn because I know if we sack him then players like Romero and Porro could look to leave and there is part of me that thinks we can really build on this current group of players. Player for player, this is the best back 4 we've ever had and probably will ever have. Its a generational back 4. I'd love us to keep them and build on it.

But I'm not convinced Ange is the man to bring us forward. Its almost a shame that the players love him so much because it makes sacking him a massive gamble where it could ruin morale and we probably will lose Romero and maybe Porro too.

As things stand, it sounds like no players will want to leave if Ange stays. Maybe the sensible thing to do is keep him and see how this united group of players do under him next season. I'm torn really. Don't mind which way it goes. Just hope we make the decision next week and can start building for next season.

it's not even the best back 4 we've had in the last 10 years, much less the best we've ever had. Player for player, Rose was far better than Udogie, Vert>Romero, Alderweireld>VDV, Walker>Porro. And it's not even close.
There's a strong shout to say BAE/King/Woodgate/Corluka were better than this lot considering our current defenders can't fucking stay fit for 5 games in a row either.

Guys..I've never, ever, claimed to be some kind of ITK, but a reliable geezer I'm in occasional business contact with (yesterday afternoon being one such occasion) who liases regularly with the club is absolutely adamant that the decision has already been made to run with Ange next season.

Whether there is any truth to this or not I believe he will stay and the club will look at the injury crisis and point to that as a factor of the poor results in the league.

Game of opinion. I think in 5 years time we'll be reflecting on this back 4 as generational and we'll probably see most of them playing for the best sides in Europe.

It's an objective fact that this back 4 has conceded 126 league goals in 2 seasons, there's absolutely no chance this is a generational defence. I think of the lot, VDV is the best, and I agree with you that he has the potential to be world class, however big question marks over his fitness, and he is not without his faults, very susceptible in the air considering his height, and he is still somewhat naive in his positioning, so definitely gaps to fill. Porro is nothing like good enough defensively or athletic enough to make up for it to ever be in the world class bracket at RB, I very much doubt anyone at CL level is looking at him seriously considering what they'd need to part with. Udogie is very young and I want to see him in a proper defensive system before making serious judgement. Romero, yes, great on his day, so many fucking individual errors though, and been a sicknote for his 3 seasons here, the best ability is availability and that's something both our CBs have not been for large stretches of the last 2 seasons.

One thing I give him full credit for is his prioritizing on winning a trophy because it would mean more to the fans than another top 4 finish

A "no brainer" you might say but recent history would say not so.

I remember the presser where he asked one of the journo's "What do you think winning this trophy would mean". "it would be massive..." "....yes it would be massive"

His emotional IQ amd ability to motivate is off the charts.

To be honest it’s quite obvious. Spurs fans waiting for the club to make a statement when in reality the only statement they could make is that he’s sacked. Other than that he’s under contract and is the manager.
If Ange is staying than how about we start working on our summer signings - that’s the STATEMENT I want to see.

Our rivals in the Big Six have wrapped up at least one signing:

Red Scum - Zubumendi
Mancs - Cunha
Chavs - Delap
Scouse - Frimpong

… and they are hot on the heels of others.

Meanwhile crickets from us. If Ange is staying then what are you waiting for you bald f’in cunt? Get off ur arse and start working on our transfers!

Recency bias in full effect.

Should be used to this by now. Every year same shit, I don’t know why it even bothers people anymore.

Ange does gaslight.
He made a .massive deal about the City game last year - and how fans didn't want us to give Woolwich the title. And then year - he pretends losing all the matches waa a master plan. So we win the EL without having a shot on goal l.

He says he us all about entertaining football - but process to play two of the most boring uncreative front players imaginable week in week out.

Fair play he won something and that's what we wanted - and all the utterly shit football was worth it this year.

But like JM and Conte watching Ange's anti creative skillful forwards is only worth it if we win something.

On reflection - our football really has been off the scale terrible - I doubt we have had one goal in the top 100 goals of the season.

if he didn't do that I'd be the first to criticize for him for being stubborn and inflexible, unable to adjust. Hell I'd even post

a witty gif of him saying "Its who we are mate"

Yeah, heard that from a couple of places now. Sounds legit to me, tbf.

Probably the wrong decision but if that is the case, the very least that Levy can do is fucking back him in the market.

He won't though.

Yeah thats the only comparison and its close. Right now I can see why you'd have the Poch back 4 ahead as you can see their full careers.

Personally I think Porro Romero VDV and Udogie will all go onto have much better careers than the 4 you mentioned. Romero has already surpassed them. VDV is destined to become one of the best and will either do it with us or at a bigger club.

Porro might not get to Walker levels of success so he'd the debatable one. Prime Rose is better than current Udogie but I'd back Udogie to end up with a much better career.

Big statement but I could see us reflecting on this back 4 in 5 years time and kicking ourselves for not building on it. Could see all 4 of them playing for the best teams in Europe if they can't make it work here.
Two of them cannot defend for a start - not even in the same universe currently imo.
They need a different coach tbf to them though and a better midfield in front of them.

Well he didn’t exactly have a choice did he? He fucked up the league campaign so badly that any shot of top 4 was over by December. And the way we went out of both domestic cups was mortifying.

If his ability to motivate is so wonderful why do we concede so many goals in the first 10 minutes of matches or give up leads so easily? We are one of the softest teams in PL history under this manager.

Do you think Inzaghi wants to come?

No idea. I didn’t think Conte would want to come but he did. I have no doubt that Paratici is dubious about Ange and will be trying to persuade other managers to replace him.
