It's an objective fact that this back 4 has conceded 126 league goals in 2 seasons, there's absolutely no chance this is a generational defence. I think of the lot, VDV is the best, and I agree with you that he has the potential to be world class, however big question marks over his fitness, and he is not without his faults, very susceptible in the air considering his height, and he is still somewhat naive in his positioning, so definitely gaps to fill. Porro is nothing like good enough defensively or athletic enough to make up for it to ever be in the world class bracket at RB, I very much doubt anyone at CL level is looking at him seriously considering what they'd need to part with. Udogie is very young and I want to see him in a proper defensive system before making serious judgement. Romero, yes, great on his day, so many fucking individual errors though, and been a sicknote for his 3 seasons here, the best ability is availability and that's something both our CBs have not been for large stretches of the last 2 seasons.
Is than an objective fact? I read during the week that we've a 70%+ win ratio when that back 4 are all on the pitch together. We conceded 2 goals in our last 5 Europa League KO games with that back 4 starting.

I think most of those 126 goals conceded came when the likes of Davies, Dragusin, Gray, Dier and Emerson were starting in our back 4.

Availablility is a huge problem and we need more able back up. Danso looks good back up. I still think we need to improve on Spence and Dragusin. But that back 4 when on the pitch together is very very good. Player for player it is one of the best back 4s in the league and certainly one of the best I've ever seen at Spurs.

We got the get out of the jail card with winning the Europa League.

When you think about it, this season has been an absolute abomination, worst league season ever, most losses ever, absolute turgid football and manager fighting his own fans.
Just look at the league results on Wikipedia and the amount of red that makes you wanna puke.

The celebrations, the parade and the trophy is just a refund to the fans for watching this bollocks, not a justification for continuation.

Levy needs to man the fuck up. Not just the manager needs to go, we need 3-4 top players. Not average, mediocre. Not kids. Real top quality.

1 point in 7 is no joke. If we get complacent we'll be in relegation battle. At least if Ange stays.
If we get Tek then you know what’s going to happen and Ange is staying as he said in press conf in Jan when we signed him. He said he wanted him to stay for next season.

Decent post but we didn't down tools. We were simply poor. I destest this idea that presumes we were so good that we just felt like we would lose games or not give maximum effort. It's rubbish.

As to not hard to win the Europa, knowing the carrot of the CL awaits, just remind me of the other English teams that have qualified for the CL as a result over the years?

An annual occurrence it certainly is not.
The narrative being spun by Ange and his fan bois is that we did down tools. It’s better than admitting he is not a good coach and couldn’t be bothered to even set the team up with some semblance of a professional football team.

It's easy to see how our fanbase can be so divided given the fact that he's just delivered our first trophy in 17 years, and first European trophy in 41 years.

That being said, it's hard to look passed the following:
- Most losses in a Premier League campaign (22) since it's inception 33 years ago.
- Worst points total (38) in a Premier league campaign.
- 2nd Most goals conceded (65) in a Premier League campaign.
- Worst League position (17th) at the end of the season.

I honestly was very optimistic when Ange arrived, and have nothing against him personally, but the stats are pretty hard to argue with..
We conceded 60 plus last season as well I think

The bad far outweighs the good. The problem is we so rarely win a trophy our fans can’t be objective.

If Woolwich or Chavs had this exact same season we’d be fucking slaughtering them for even considering keeping a manager with this record over 2 years. But when it’s us, we think oh Ange won a trophy, it’s such a fucking miracle let’s ignore the evidence and keep him.
Didn’t a lot piss in arteta winning fa cup and finishing mid table for a few seasons.

Dier played a handful of games in 23 then sent to BM in Jan 24. Drag came in Jan 24 then been out half season this year. Common denominator is Davies who the club are looking to give one year extension and some are happy with that! Says it all really!

Managers like that have played effective football in the Premier League and also have a track record of getting more out of less. Absolutely essential if you are going to come here and work with Levy. Poch and Redknapp had this quality and the next manager needs to have it too, they have to be able to get a 50k a week player playing like a £200k a week player. Iraola and Frank have done that.

It’s always a good sign when a manager can consistently overachieve at this level.

Effective football? Effective at what? Finishing mid table?

You seem to be judging them on what they might do. Not what they have actually done.

Ange has finished 5th in EPL. Has won Europe, and has won at every club and level in the game.

This is the scenario I see happening too. I really don't think Levy will sack him after lifting a pot and someone like Frank or Xavi or whoever coming in would be a gamble anyway. They would be on a hiding to nothing with the previous man having got the trophy monkey off our back.
Ange stays, see how it goes - if its not a disaster in the league and CL group stage by winter break he will see out the year with Poch back in 26 is my bet and tbh I wouldn't be against it if the touted managers were the alternative.

I agree with you but I can’t sit through another season of his football. It’s shit sitting there waiting for us to concede goals the same way game after game. It will be the same next season and if he’s here we’ll be in deep trouble.

Levy’s best bet is to wait for it all to settle down and try for inzaghi or get Poch out of his contract. I’ve a feeling though it will be quiet until the 1 July when Paratici comes back and if he’s replaced we will unveil a new manager along with him. Just like he did with Arnesen/santini/jol.

I still don't understand people saying it's exciting or fun to watch. It's fun for neutrals and opponents sure, but I don't give a fuck about neutrals and rivals enjoying themselves.

the fact its all been very silent makes us think there's a chance with inzaghi hahaha, we will all be waiting for the morning after the CL final....its the hope that destroys ya.

why has it even broken down with inzaghi at inter if hes been doing really well there?

If Levy wants to sack him - he can't until Ange gets back from his holiday.
I suspect one factor will be their personal relationship.
It normally ends it breaking down - and the manager mouthing off about Levy and the club.

Ange has sort of done it - but nowhere near to the extent others did. We forget how crazy Poch went in the press towards the end. We don't know what is happening behind the scenes.
I get the impression the personal relationship between them is virtually non existent and has been for some time. I'm not saying that's a good or a bad thing, just how it comes across to me.
I've been critical of Levy many times, but I don't think he'd make his decision based on this anyway.
He did have a good personal relationship with Poch, but a poor working relationship which is why it ended how and when it did.
