both their CVs are terrible compared to Ange. iraola has won one pre season cup in cyprus then got sacked by his team in cyprus because he didnt win a game for two months. frank has won nothing in denmark or england.
New manager bounce as well as opposing coaches and players weren’t used to Angeball yet.
Once his tactics had been sussed out (after the first 10 games), results and performances have been, generally poor.
There are other factors as well. After the ten games the injuries started to mount.
I also remember some of our players showcasing the worst of their coach-killer talents with missing goals my mother could tap in and others gifting goals her mother could save.
The form fell because of injuries and having to player Emerson Royal and Ben Davies at center back.
I'll happy wager that we will be in the title race next season

The win % with our best players is over 70%. The system works.
However, they go to shit when injuries happen and inexperienced players are expected to step up.
Royal and Grey should never have been playing CB. Reggie and Spence aren't good enough backups for Udogie and Porro. Bergvall did step up, but also made a number of costly mistakes. Odobert, Tel and Moore not ready from Premier League at this level.
Newcastle have been a better team than Spurs this season. Won more matches, even their opponent in their cup final was far superior than who we beat in ours.
And yet fans can beat ENIC/Levy for trying to be consistent to give manager time.
Ah the injury excuse lingers on. We were far better in the League Cup and Europa Cup when the 'system was ditched even with the injuries.

I guess that depends on your personal definition of title race. For instance Ange’s first season plenty on here said we were in a title race. Were you in that crowd?

For me the title race is the last 8 games.
Until then you’re jostling for position.
And even then after 30 games you are second or third and 9 points off the leaders you’re more in a chase than a race. Within 3 points you’re in a race.
And I’d happily wager Ange won’t even be our manager by the time we get to the 30 game mark.
So put in writing your definition of title race contenders and then let’s set the terms of our wager young Harry.
Yes, I agree that injuries were also a big factor but some of those injuries were incurred during our training sessions, and it kept on incurring until towards the end of this last season.
I just wonder why training methods couldn’t have changed to avoid / reduce the number of injuries incurred during training. I believe it’s because of his stubbornness and inflexibility. I also think that he isn’t a great coach at this level.
Starting XI: Kinsky, Gray, Danso, Davies, Spence, Bentancur, Bissouma, Sarr, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Son (c).
Same midfield as started final. Tel was on the bench as was Porro. Only 2 changes from previous game v Brentford where we won. Everyone was banging on about kulu at the time being great. Richi the saviour for our Europa league final games. Da so has done well since joining. So enough decent players there to at least keep it tight and push them back. We were timid and pathetic. Gawd knows he sent them out but I think this was long before he abandoned his principles completely.
Werner was probably one of , if not, the biggest culprit. That’s why I couldn’t understand why we extended his loan.
Thnk he played RB from the start of the season in Europa as Ange thought he didn’t need Spence.
Most ex players and pros are about as sharp as Wayne Rooney
This is his squad he has spent nearly £400M. Got rid of players like PEH who he didn’t want, discarded Spence and sent on loan all our academy players except Moore. Who he has treated badly. All the while bringing in other youngsters same age as our own and giving them minutes. If the squad that got 5th was better than the one now how comes people say he came into a shit show in 23.
