Calling the Europa League a lesser trophy is not belittling it. It is a lesser trophy. The elite European competition is the Champions League, the EL is for teams that couldn’t reach that level. So by definition it is a lesser trophy.
Winning it was still a great achievement for a club of our stature but let’s not pretend we had to beat anyone good. With the exception of Frankfurt every team we played in the knockouts would be a relegation contender in the PL.
