Is it possible that things went to his head a bit and he believed the hype enough to think that starting line up could win it?
He said he's not fond of it this early to be fair.
Why can't he say " I got wrong, too many changes made to the team"
It amazes me how fans can go from one extreme to the other after losing a match on penalties. We lost on penalties mate.
If Fulham missed all their penalties, would he have magically got it right?
I understand why Ange would pick the team he did, he wanted to see how these squad players could handle his style of football in a serious match. He’s paid a heavy price for it but now he has an answer.
There aren’t enough proper footballers in this squad. You can put 2 or 3 of the reserves in and get away with it but that’s it. Any more than that, especially away from home, and we will lose to absolutely anyone. As fans we already knew this but Ange is still trying to learn about the players. Let’s just hope that him and Levy react to what we saw.
Ah that's alright then. As long as it was only on penalties. We lost on penalties mate.

That word "lost" didn't need to happen.
Why does it make it alright because we only lost on penalties? We lost.It amazes me how fans can go from one extreme to the other after losing a match on penalties.
These shithouses have stitched up so many managers. Get outIt's hard to hide the disappointment of his actions last night.
After an unbelievable start, and with the entire club and fans on his side, he's back to earth with a bump.
After telling us he loves winning and doesn't care what competition it is, he then picks a team that had every chance of getting knocked out at the first hurdle.
All the early positivity shot down overnight.
If you want to experiment, do it gradually not all at once and risk getting knocked out of one of the two cups we are in. .
9 changes is madness and showed massive naivety.
If we had to juggle this and Europe, you could kind of understand it but with no Europe it's unacceptable.
We are only playing one game a week and had 4 days rest before our next game, so no excuses as far as I am concerned.
Love what you're doing overall Ange, but last night was a big black mark I'm afraid.
Winning a domestic trophy isn't the top priority from Levy, it's 4th/5th.I am very surprised that a manager with 30 years experience would rotate nine players in a competitive game when we have no European football this year. Especially a manager who says winning is more important than anything else. Even more so when you consider that winning a domestic trophy must be his number one goal set by Levy. There was no need to rotate more than 2 or 3 players. In fact, there is no value in rotating more than 2 or 3 as there will be too much change creating a lack of cohesion, rendering any learning exercise worthless. We've seen it too many times in recent years playing second string XIs in crappy European competitions (Nuno, Jose both spectacularly guilty in this regard). Did Ange really need to find out more about the likes of Sanchez, Royal, Davies, and Skipp, who have all featured in pre-season and first team games since he came in? Last night should of been about giving our first choice GK and CBs more time to get to know each other, finding out more about Lo Celso as backup to Maddison (alongside Sarr and Bissouma), seeing if Perisic and Solomon could serve Richarlison better (more crosses), and most importantly winning the cup tie. The decision to let Sanchez take a penalty, let alone the 3rd penalty (the one that sports psychologists say has the most pressure), was incredibly naive an stupid. I do not care if Sanchez had the balls to volunteer, it should not have been allowed.
Yeah put putting a silly x after a post is a great reply right?

Two wins in the PL and we will be flying and all will be forgotten. The tossers that played last night cannot be trustedI said on Saturday i thought the expectations and hero worship were getting out of hand after 2 or 3 games and we basically still have a poor squad with 7 or 8 decent players. He made a mistake last night , hopefully he wont do that again but he needs backing and a good 9 or 10 players have to be moved on as most have let down the last 4 managers. Criticism for last night is fair but no point piling in on him, he cocked up and i'm sure he's realised now what most of us have known for 2 or 3 years. The pressure should be on the board to sort this.
Yes you have.I've never pressed the disagree button on any of your posts. Try harder.
