It amazes me how fans can go from one extreme to the other after losing a match on penalties.
Why does it make it alright because we only lost on penalties? We lost.

It's not as if we can put it right next round is it?
That's the problem with one-off Cup games... Potentially you only get ONE shot at getting it right, otherwise you're out!

You COULD argue that if you experiment in a league game, and it backfires, at least you have the opportunity to put things right in the NEXT league game... yes, 3 points dropped is annoying, but (unless you miss out on the title by 2 points) not always catastrophic!!

A cup game is a one shot at getting it right EVERY time you play...

One mistake, and that's that.

Unfortunately, we made NINE mistakes!

Absolutely spot on.

Ange isn't in control of the ins and outs though. He can only make requests and say yes or no.

Levy and the suits ultimately control the actual transfers.
This may be true, but my original point was that we'll find out about the strength of Ange's ambition in the next 3 days. Levy can't afford a split with him at this point in time, so he's in as strong a position to get what he wants, as he ever will be.

You’ll probably find most spurs fans take the carabo cup very seriously as it was probably our most likeliest chance of a trophy - this is a spurs supporters forum - I suggest you’d probably be better off spouting your ill informed rubbish on general football forums or on the forums of whoever it is you support

1 of 3 domestic trophies that can be won. Won by one of the best clubs in the world 7/10 times in the last decade.
The 3 other winners have all also won the CL.
It matters. That’s a fact.

The only trophy won under ENIC in almost quarter of a century.

5 finals this century. 0 FA Cup finals reached in the same timeframe.

Filling up wembley every chance we get to those finals.

Night at WHL v woolwich has to be one of the greatest Spurs performances and atmospheres this century.
Taking 6k fans to Fulham for a “1st” round game.

Yeah proper Spurs”get” the carabao cup………

We won't know the strength of the ambition until the FA Cup and see the behaviour then. I'm firmly of the view that 4th/5th is achievable with the players we have because of no EU footie.

But Ange spouted about changing how this club is run. Last night is doing the same thing we've done for the majority of the last 20 years.

Hi, new to the forum...
Full disclosure...I am Australian and I am not a Spurs fan and neither an Ange fan, though I am very interested in how the the first Aussie coaching a PL team goes.
There is another Aussie on here commenting on the League Cup game without having watched it!!!
Has a shark head in his avatar. WTF Watch the game first man. Tottenham sucked, that was not Ange ball...it was nothing football. Bournemouth game is chalk and cheese. As someone who has watched a lot of AP coached teams, that was uncharacteristic. It looked to me like guys who played well in training and then bottled it on game day.
Ange wants to win everything available. Make no mistake. The League cup is a trophy well worth winning. He also does not throw players under the bus. He builds confidence and will take the slings and arrows on his own back.
But yeah....what is the point of an extended squad if only 8 players are useful? There should be players pushing for a start in every position. It should be a managers headache! The squad depth quality is a chequebook problem, not a manager problem.
Oh yeah and every single trophy or comp is WELL WORTH WINNING!. Don't settle for less! You guys are a top tier club!!! You should be pushing for trophies every year. A lot of you have settled for being also rans...(just what I see on this forum). Fuck that! "To dare is to do!!'
Ange will dare. He is not perfect but he always learns. He will always dare. That game yeasterday was garbage but don't think he didn't want to win it. As an outsider, you guys really lack squad depth. There should be two guys pushing for every position. It is a chequebook issue.

I have no skin in tha game and I am not going to bullshit that I am a new Spurs supporter, but I hope you do well this year and I will be following your games.
Hope you don't mind if I post a bit here and there.

Also Al Murray is the greatest Pom to sink an ale. Vale Sean Locke. That cunt was awesome.

I'm over this now but the people dismissing the League cup as some tinpot trophy in order to cope with the fact that we can't win it now really need a reality check.

Well - if we sign nobody and nobody leaves we'll know that Ange has less ambition than if he signs a few and several depart. Quite obvious really.

Unlike you, I don't adopt the lazy (and untrue), cop-out 'Levy controls absolutely everything' cliche.

Shut up Levybot!!

:dawsonlol: :dawsonlol: :dawsonlol:

It’s well known Daniel is a man who needs to know about everything.

As poch once said.” I’m just the coach”. Ange is not on the phone todays trying to shift Tanguy and negotiate wages for Mbappe!!

Not sure if anyone has asked. Based on say making 4 changes or possibly 5, who would you have picked to start ?
My comment before kick off was ....if we can get to half time with a clean sheet.....my thinking was to bring on the big guns second half.

Didn't watch last night as was our 8-year anniversary yesterday - by the sounds of it, it's not worth the watch this morning.

Fulham put out a strongish side - we didn't and got punished for it. Shame as I was hoping for 2 good cup runs this season.

Could understand Ange wanting to give some a chance to show what they can do in the system but by all accounts he went with way too many changes against a Prem League team that has already proven themselves as hard to beat on their day.

Hojbgerg Skipp and Lo Celso in an MF 3 compared to Maddison, Bissouma and Sarr is a huge drop off in terms of transitional play and ball retention.

Hopefully, he has learned his lesson and we arent in any situation this season where we have to put a 2nd string team out.

There are some players that have to play if we want to play Ange-ball. Maddison, Romero and Bissouma have to be on the team sheet if we want to play football.

We need genuine competition for all those players if we want to be able to make changes and still play well. Lo Celso, Davinson and Hojbjerg simply can’t do what we need them to do.

You could say that we just found out the strength of it. It’s a pretty clear message to make nine changes and say to the club: Here’s what I’ve got if theres a raft of injuries, when the young players inevitably get tired, if we lose the goalkeeper, during the upcoming four weeks of AFCON.

Correct. Every single trophy is well worth winning. Every last one, even if it is an Escort with two flatties if any other club is vying for it. Aspire to be number one. Are you not worth it?
