What’s realistic though?

Sacking a manager because the team hit its first real rough patch?

People talk about the first 10 games but the way Ange got us playing our football and winning games with 4 FBs, no midfield and Son away at Asiacup was EASILY the most impressive period of the season.

If that don’t realistically encourage you that this coach has something different about him, I realistically don’t know what will.
Dude- we’ve been in a rough patch for half a season now. At least admit that’s a realistic observation.

The element of surprise only lasts so long, and we’ve been found out. Ange hasn’t said that he is willing to change anything. We’re not going to get all the players he wants.

Repeating the same experiment and expecting different results is madness. I don’t know really what you all expect to happen except as you say hoping for a miracle.

Personally I don’t do miracles. I’m calling this experiment dead on the water right now unless Ange shows radical tactical adjustment and flexibility. He’s never done that before.

I believe in the manager what else do you want me to say?

I know for a fact that sacking managers after the first rough spell doesn’t work because we have done it about 5 times in a row now.

I’m ok with the discomfort of seeing if he can bring it back to the football we know this team can play.
where is your belief coming from though? you stated you think he will change his approach on set pieces but the man has categorically stated he doesn't believe in different coaches for set piece coaching saying “I wouldn’t feel comfortable bringing in specialists for one particular area.”...yet you think he will get rid of Mason and change the set up of training for set pieces?

I don't mind people having faith but give me something tangible as to why you believe in the manager?

When will people understand that it's not the manager, but the players, and most importantly, the mentality of this football club? We keep signing mid-table Premier League players like Johnson hoping that they come good. Sometimes it works (Vicario, Udogie, Van De Ven), and sometimes they're a waste of space (Gil, Solomon, Emerson)...
Not disagreeing totally with mid-table standard players but Gil & Solomon have hardly had any chances chances to show what they can or can’t do.

I mean seriously we’re the ninth richest club in the planet- how in the fuck can we get away with saying we’d rather do without a specialist coach even if we could afford it? It’s baffling!

I admire the fact that, he believes in his system, but at what price to the team and club.
I seem to remember when, Ossie was in the hot seat, he had this philosophy of encouraging his players to play, play, play.
This was fine when, they were afforded time and space, but as soon as the opposition forced around the turnover, they would fall apart like crepe paper the same as now.
I think because of the slightly negative counter attacking football both Conte and José played, this has put pressure on "getting our Tottenham back".
But getting "our Tottenham back" for me, doesn't mean losing every week with naïve football philosophy.

Because that kind of football wins you titles. City or Liverpool for example while different from each other both play high press, high risk, high reward football.

However they have many years of doing it, they have players bought that can do it. With a high press the defence is the attack and the midfield pressing in behind. We lack some of the players plus it takes upto 2 years to get right even with the right players. Additionally we lack forwards who are press resistant and good at linking.

Burley in the Championship where in a mess, Kompany came in, they didn’t have the best team yet they won that league by a mile. They couldn’t make a championship squad do that kind of football in the prem, the quality gap was to much.

My point is that style of football has the biggest ceiling, it is just the hardest to make work and takes time, patience and money. We don’t need a City level squad to fight with them but something not far of Arse’s team would do and the time to make it work.

I did in another reply mate. Really cbf to type it out again.

Flatbill new era fitted size 8, white under brim, spurs crest on the front. Beautiful hat that I can’t wear as even the West Ham fans can take potshots.

I’m the only Spurs fan I know of where I live. Everyone else is basically Woolwich. It sucks.
Is Corbyn your neighbour?

It’s objectively been rough for 4 games.

The found out thing is a load of bollox mate and I’m not wasting any more time on it than that, except to say tactics don’t get found out. That’s not how tactics work. There are no magic tactics that always win.

I agree with the rest of the post, but Arse spent over 100m on Rice. We’re really not in the same level of spending as them.

Levy won’t spend 100m on a player until inflation normalizes that number in 6-10 years time.

That is an issue. Right now we need too many players to be spending £100m on a one player but there will come a point when to complete a team we need a special player and that flaw could come back to bite us.

Good managers adjust their tactics as necessary to beat the next team they have to play. Then they do it again the next week.

Even Real Madrid had to play on the counter to squeak by City.

For Ange to think he is somehow exceptional to this is madness.
