This is why you gotta give Ange time, we've become so used to sacking managers at the first hurdle, we don't want to go through growing pains but the only way to grow as a club is to do exactly that.
I agree with you, we have to give Ange a proper crack.

Just getting really tired of every season being a rebuild, it's become one of the most tired Spurs cliches.

The 'evolution' of Postecoglou's Spurs through the season

We got figured out in the Fulham game, and now everyone knows the template we're stuffed. It's that easy. The rest of the league have a cheat code that renders Flangeball utterly useless.

Teams are not doing anything special against us, sitting deep or pressing high against us aren't novel ideas.

We just have to get better at dealing with it, Ange isn't wrong to focus on embedding his basic principles of play. If a team sits off, you have to move the ball quickly and be decisive when those tiny openings arrive. If a team presses high you need to be brave and play forward rather than play backwards and let them get on top of our keeper.

We are playing slow and sideways/backwards football against every team we face, that's never going to be effective. If we played every 90 minutes like we did the last 20 today, we'd beat most teams easily. Whether Ange can get them doing that is the question.

ok yeh i agree with that but that's pretty bog standard and self explainitory.

If teams like Stoke who were in the league for a long time adopting long ball/direct tactics suddenly decided to play another tactic (say Anges high line and passing from the back). You think they would have had anywhere near the 'success' they had? they would have had exactly the same set of players and would have undoubtedly got relegated much sooner.

Tactics are fucking crititical and its odd you downplay them the way you do.

I’m not downplaying them. I’m saying they don’t work the way you are saying they do

Anyway I’m done for the night. You are right he’s been found out, we are doomed,

Laters.

Worry not- we’re apparently going to replace our entire attack this summer. It’s gonna be so awesome.

This is true, no European football this year, and out of the cups early again.
There has been enough time to, get his ideas across and have them set up better than what we are seeing.
The only evidence we really have, especially over recent months, is that the longer the players are exposed to Ange and his “elite” coaching squad, the more shit they become.

Weeks of no football and just training, which logic suggests should improve things, has made everyone and everything ever more baffling.

Ange claimed we played well today, after conceding 4 preventable goals. It’s all a bit ridiculous now.

What worries me is I have zero idea what he wants our attacking football to look like.

We had that one goal against Villa (I think) where Werner crossed to Johnson and you thought ‘yes, winger to winger’. Stretching the play but attacking the space that either winger creates.

But other than that, it’s just total fucking randomness. Kulu lolloping around like a drunk hippo. Maddison tap dancing. Son chasing his tail. Porro attempting to send one into orbit.

There’s nothing evidently developing.

Enough is Enough!

I didnt expect a straight line of improvement, that was never going to happen. But there has barely been a sign for months of any improvement even on the shite of last season. You expect to see signs and i can pick about 4 maybe 5 games this season when we've played well. You expect that over a season even at our lowest ebb. Defensively we've not been as bad since Ossie Ardiles. They could have had 7 or 8 today without breaking sweat.

Anyway for what it worth i dont think there is any chance he'll be sacked this summer so we'll get to see who's right. I really hope i'm not but i just think it will pick up mostly where we'll leave off and it will get messy by late September/October time. I'd be very happy if my posts are being bumped and having the piss taken out of me because we're top 3 in the autumn.
You shouldn't have the piss taken out of you, nobody can truly predict what is going to happen at this stage realistically, you could be right, you could be wrong but nobody here can predict the future, we can only make judgements on what we see and feel at the end of the day.

Also, the "told you so" brigade are always the most emotionally immature people out there, I have never had the urge in my life to go back and say to someone "You were wrong lol" even when my fears/hopes have been accurate because I know that nobody is perfect and we can all be wrong sometimes.

For what it's worth, I think it will end in disaster as well and I don't have faith he is the man for the job anymore but obviously I really hope I am wrong.

You say all this stuff about RM and then make a completely unrelated point- unless it’s that we aren’t RM.
There was a point and it wasn't unrelated. Rome wasn't build in a day, neither was Real Madrid...and neither will Spurs a la Ange. It takes years and far more than a good/great manager to become a Real Madrid type club, able to adapt and handle tough situations. That season when they won the CL after coming from behind vs PSG, Chelsea and some others...not many sides could replicate that.

You don't just become great overnight, it doesn't happen. We've had 23+ years of chopping and changing, going all different directions and what has it achieved? A big fuck all is what.

Is the big fella out of his depth? So far yes. Has he made mistakes? You bet he has. But is he responsible for the shit we're in and have been in for years & years? No he fucking ain't. He weren't even here for 90% of it.

You wanna sack Ange, appoint the next big thing and be here again in less than 2 years? Be my guest, pal...if short term fixes are your thing. But it's friggin pointless.

You wanna blame someone? The one who's really responsible for the fact we've got less backbone than Real Madrid's mascot? Have a word with the guy giving himself multimillion £ bonuses each year despite our FOOTBALL club being a joke.

Like I said before, I think we need to stick with him but that's absolutely nothing to do with me rating him or having any faith he will change anything. I think he's out of his depth but there is of course a chance I am wrong and with the right summer transfers he can make the necessary changes needed for his system to work.

Basically, I have zero faith Levy will bring in the appropriate replacement so let's see what he does after another summer of recruitment.

I'm coming from the same point. I was raving first half of the season. I would give Ange years and a billion of pounds to spend.
But now I just see a stubborn menager that has his 'football we want to play' idea but nothing else. No tactics, no physical preparation, no set pieces, no coming through youth, no game plan. Not a single player improved, all much worse than the sum of their parts. Absolute lack of respect of the opponent. Absolute disregard of the derby game's meaning. What was this entire season for then? Was it just to expose the players that aren't suited for Angeball, throw them under the bus so to show we need a whole new squad? It's bullshit.
People laughed when I suggested (tongue in cheek mind) that I'd have Dyche after we got embarrassed in NLD. What I meant is the bare minimum is I want us being our rivals bogey team. Is Everton squad that beat Liverpool vastly superior to ours? Or were they coached and prepared to do best they can in a game at hand important to their fans! We're just got stuffed like a lower league side in yet another game. We don't play good football, haven't for months. Where are players he specifically wanted at? Maddison, Johnson, Werner? Absolute shite at the moment. What about defence that's up there with the best in the league personnel wise? Why are they shifting goals so the games are done before half time whistle if blown?
Again, what was this whole season for?
