Its the level of detail required in the prem, ultra small margins matter and thats why you need specialist set piece coaches, data analysts etc. Just rocking up on your own and farming out jobs to Mason and Jedinak all looks a bit, dare i say amateurish. The fact we now apparently need to refresh the coaches show it was all a bit ill prepared and cobbled together. Not all his fault, the club deserves its fair share of criticism but you arent going to achieve much in the prem based on bravado and motivational speeches.
Spot on, something that is also unbelievable is clowns on here almost excusing the incompetence as he's "learning on the job", "gaining experience" etc.

Since when is the job of a Prem manager used as work experience?? Are we running an apprenticeship scheme no one is aware of, if so why do tickets still cost as much as they do?

Useless yes man who will be disposed of when it's suitable for the higher ups instead of when it's actually suitable for the team which would have been ages ago.

The likes of Dier coming out and saying Postenoclue does no tactical work in training is damning enough was rubbished at the time but as a player who worked under the likes of Poch, Jose & Conte, looks to be spot on.

Id have taken 5th at start of season partucularly losing kane. Back him in summer then for me top 4 and trophy is required. Go all out for carabao cup. We just need a trophy whatever it is. Good being back in eurooe again.

Also how many of the above minutes has Johnson been stuck out on the left where he is useless?
I think Kulu has been pretty dreadful this season other than holding the ball up. Which has been a benefit AND a curse at times.
But it's a bit harsh to give Johnson a pass for playing out of of position on the left when it looks like Kulu is out of position on the right.
Does this not all seem too familiar, it happens at the back end of every season. Regardless who the manager is.
It didn't happen at the back end of Conte's first season and he wasn't here for the back end of his 2nd.
Poch actually increased form at the back end of his 2nd and 3rd seasons. It was the 1st and 4th that we seemed to fall away.
What we're seeing here is either a squad that don't like doing what they're being told to do, or are doing it it and it's just not working. Or both. And there's no way back from those.

We might finish 7th on the same points that we finished 8th on last season. That's not progress and this guy has a better balanced squad and hasn't been replaced. Twice. By absolute amateurs.

In a similair vein to this. A concern for me is that I can't remember him making a single tactical comment in any press conference or interview. I'm really willing to be proven wrong if someone has examples, but it always seems to be platitudes about "our way" and "what we believe in". Now, a few months ago that wasn't anything I was listening out for. You can't expect him to do a full tactics meeting in a press conference I accept that. But when we keep showing tactical stupidity as the months go on, the only tactical instruction we as fans have heard him say at this moment in time, is "Stop passing it back". And that ain't really enough if you want to develop a team at the top level.

He does need to be backed in summer but being proactive the board need to tentatively have someone in mind if we have a bad start next season and need a manager around october/november time. Very disappointed with maddison since hes come back from injury. Classic tottenham syndrome players get a big move then dont have the desire to push themselves to limit. Just like the payday and get england call up. Annoying.

Why?
Lose the last 3 and he'll get the sack and it'll be deserved.

No Spurs coach in the PL era has ever lost 4 games on the bounce. If it wasnt for a last minute one off the shoulder away to City, he'd have done it twice in his first season!!!!

Blokes a complete joke to me at this stage. For once, Levy would be absolutely right not to back him.

It's mad to think in this day and age, with so many examples of coaches playing for the sack and/or teams no longer playing for them, that there are still people who think time works.

West Ham did that with Zola and then Avram Grant and get relegated. Neither had a clue what he was doing. Newcastle did it with 2 coaches IIRC. Villa stuck with a gormless idiot for 2 seasons and, by the time they started ignoring the cliche, it was too late and they went.
None of them were in the bottom 3 worst teams in the league. It happened because they kept bad managers too long.

So his team improved after he was given time to put things right.

Conte checked out. Biggest let down I've witnessed at the club by a mile

hes blagging his way through it seems like. he rambles on and its like hes trying to convince people listening he knows what hes talking about all while saying nothing really. a lot of words coming out of his mouth but no real substance. when he got pulled up the other day on what the message was that wasnt getting through he shat himself.

his interviews irritate me now because hes rambing on without saying anything actually interesting. i feel sorry for him in a way, hes looking way out of his depth and trying his very best to mask it.

up until chelsea everything was rosey and he looked the real deal. but that game badly exposed him, 9 men and hes sent the team out to die with his suicide tactics! never seen anything like it and you wont again unless its from some rookie whos not got a clue.

what was this message that wasnt getting through? "pass the ball forward and believe in yourself mate"?

You are not wrong.

In Poch's first season, we finished 5th having been 10th at MW 15 and climbing up the table steadily from there on.
We lost 12 games all season (will at least be matched, if not be worse this season)
We got a few beatings early on, home to Liverpool, away at City and away at Chelsea.
By the 2nd half of the season we battered Chelsea 5-3, Beat Arse at home.
We never lost more than 2 on the bounce all season.
It wasn't a great season, but it showed some semblence of improvement during the season.
This season has been a steady decline. A worrying, steady decline.

Dier really said that? Fuck- I totally missed it, not that it hasn’t been obvious from watching the games.
He said it was all tactics under Conte and no tactics at all under Postecoglu.
I don't know how to feel as I don't like Eric Dier much, but that comment was alarming to me. Everyone else is doing their tactical work on us, yet we don't do it on anyone apparently.

We also got to a final and you could see players improving massively from the season before Walker, Rose, Vertonghen, Eriksen. He'd also dropped a few big name signings and played enthusiastic kids like Mason and Bentaleb. We were inconsistant and had some right stinkers but you could see something happening. You cant say the same about this season imo.

He cant keep playing royal at LB though. If he plays saturday its like a bad pub side mentality playing anyone to fill a gap. VDV or skipp left back. Dragusin needs to play if vdv is left back. Can experiment a bit as well last few games. Can try scarlett last 20 up front.

You'll have missed Ange's reply then too 🤦🏻‍♂️
When the player's comments were put to Postecoglou, the Spurs boss said: "It's probably something you'd have to ask Eric, I don't know what you mean by tactical work. Everything we do is geared on how we are going to play our football, so for me by extension is tactical work."

Illuminating, not that illumination is needed if you've watched the team play.

I'm finding it really, really uncomfortable to watch tbh
He just comes across as some random bloke plucked off the street and stuck in front of a TV camera to answer questions on something he knows very little about.
Painfully uninspiring. Someone mentioned Avram Grant, earlier. Easy to see the connection.
