Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The Spurs fans that are getting their knickers in a twist over Ange’s comments tonight need to give their heads a wobble and stop taking this as some sort of personal insult.

Ange Postecoglou is not a Tottenham Hotspur fan. He is an employee who is paid to win football matches and to try and make us successful on the pitch. His comments tonight were not personal. He was not calling out the fans specifically. His comments were by and large absolutely spot on. Just as Antonio Conte’s comments were by in large spot on. Just as Mauricio Pochettino’s comments were absolutely spot on when he was manager towards the end of his tenure.

From my reading, it’s pretty clear it’s the ownership and the general culture of mediocrity that is strangling the club that he is calling out here, not the fans.

Anges comments clearly didn’t come about just as a result of tonight’s match. My reading of them is, like many of our previous managers, he’s come to realise over the last few weeks and months that the culture from the top down at the club is pretty rancid, that theres
no real incentive to be successful on the football pitch and his frustrations boiled over tonight with all the journalist’s patronising questions.

My only hope now is that Daniel Levy and the board actually listen to this man and the message he’s trying to get across, rather than throw their toys out the pram and press the nuclear button as they did when Conte called them out in a similar fashion. The ball is well and truly in Levys court.

hes right the fans are idiots. the fans that applauded this fucking fool for getting his defenders to push to the halfway line with 9 men deserve it. what the fuck do you think is going to happen? that was the only sign youll ever need that this guy is fucking clueless.

he threw that fucking game with his suicide tactics and i think he actually threw the season there and then. id be surprised if some of the players didnt think hes some fat gobby aussie cunt whos not got a clue about football. bentancur outburst wasnt just for being subbed! theres shit behind that.

how dare this fat cunt try and deflect shit onto the fans. walking around in cheap suits talking about how much of a winner he is, cunts never won outside of pub football.
I wasn't happy about being in this situation today. Does this cunt honestly feel that any of us wanted to be in this situation. Does he think we wanted to have a season that capitulated to such an extent that all we'd have to hope for is losing a game so that we're not labeled as the side that won it for their biggest rivals and the shit that we'd get that comes with that. I accepted this today in a deflated manner but he has absolutely fucking enraged me. In fact that has made me so angry right now I'd gladly see him fuck off tonight. Him and his gung ho my way or the highway put us in this fucking position. Him and his fucking I'm not gonna change put us into this position. Then he finally does what needed to be done in a game that benefits out fiercest rivals. Sorry that is a fucking disgrace in my eyes.

We've won 3 games in 10. Luton, Forest and Burnley. All were a struggle. 6 defeats in there, 3 at Fulham, 4 at Newcastle and Liverpool, a loss to Chelsea reserves and 3-0 down at home to Woolwich in 35 mins. Thats what he should be worried about. The manager, coaching staff and players have blown top 4, not the fans.
So true. The facts don’t change. It’s been an awful ten game run, and Sunday to come against a team with fuck all to lose.

That Ange has survived with any credibility at all is surprising, I can’t see any other Tottenham manager under levy getting away with this. If they fail to get 5th I think dead hand levy will be in action all over again.

Shows how low it’s really got. That we are all in a mess over beating / losing to City whereas a serious club would never have lost at home to Woolwich from a 0-3 position. Even when they won the league at WHL they didn’t beat us to it. Pathetic since Christmas I feel, utterly so for the past ten games.

Sorry mate, makes no sense.

Nobody at the club said perforn like shit for the last dozen games though.

Freak of a club.

I am going to say this. When our fans sang Are you watching Woolwich. Did none of the people find it embarrassing? We were 1-0 down and people were singing like it was something to be proud of. I was furious walking out the stadium. I didn’t think we could make Champions League even now but I still wanted to win.
Well said, the match was probably broadcast worldwide, really embarrassing.

100% correct. Very good post..

The problem is that he qualified it by saying "the last 48 hours...". I don't think it can be disputed he was talking about the fans in part. He was clearly wound up about some fans wanting us to lose. He lashed out in the presser about it. He shouldn't have and I expect he will calm down.

He literally said in his last press conference that we did good business in the summer and today he said plans for next summer are already in place and he is happy with it, why would he say that if he is frustrated with the ownership?

He hinted at things "inside and outside" the club as well, what does the board have to do with things on the outside?

The reality is that this was little more than a vague self-preservation rant on the back end of a run of terrible results and "inside and outside" the club is a very easy way to deflect blame from himself imo.

I mean, obviously just my opinion but that's how he is coming across to me.

I agree. They aren’t spurs fans.

In his post match press conference he goes on about making us a winning team and he knows what it takes to get us there is determined to say. It’s really good actually. Everyone should watch it.

I'll never not find it hilarious to see how triggered the doomers are by twitter click bait.

They are the weak minded 'fans'..

If he's going to last, he's going to need to get it on some level. He's not going to get by on "Not interested, mate" whenever a reporter asks about Woolwich.

The one thing you cannot do as a Tottenham manager is disregard the North London rivalry or think it's the same as other club rivalries.

And this is where I think Arteta benefits from having actually played a NLD. He fully celebrated on the touchline when the final whistle went the other week. That lego head cringe merchant does get it.

Ange has now been given more information than any other manager in our recent history about what it means. He can remain stubborn and dismissive or change, it's up to him.

Seeing a lot of wet gussets on here tonight. Mainly along the lines of “how dare he have a go at us loyal fans!”.

Mainly from posters who spend their life calling him a fat Aussie cunt from a tinpot league, ripping the piss out of our players and owners and making hilarious jokes about gokarts.

Wouldn’t know loyalty if it were stapled to their taint. And have now clutched their collective pearls. Fucking state of some of you.

As for the cunts in the ground doing the fucking poznan - couldn’t have looked more smalltime.

Newcastle fan in peace here, just wanted to say the way Ange is going on is absolutely pathetic and insulting to your club. It's all about self protection and choosing to use this unique climate and scenario - potentially handing your bitter rivals the league - to give it the billy big bollocks about how much he's a 'winner' and how seemingly no-one else is. Honestly, I'm sick of seeing egotistical arseholes using clubs to play the victim and protect themselves.

The Dealer thinks he's slick lol

For me it's simple. Don't come out and say a Champions League place isn't important and then suddenly pretend it matters tonight.

Overall I like Ange, but it's almost as if his perfect PR after 10 games has gone to his head. Willing to forgive and forget next season, and would have taken 5th if offered it at the start of the season. But let's not pretend the 2nd half of this season has been a total collapse and that we're in the position we're in tonight because of him.
