Yes I agree. But not at Tottenham.

Oh well might as well stop following football then, what's the point of it all

Day Today GIF

Can’t wait to read your essays this season on how it’s too hard for the players to play a game every 3 days and that Europa League is what derailed our league form.
100% some people just come out with exscuses to suit their narrative. You’d think 9 days between games you’d have time work on tactics and look at ways to exploit the oppo and nullify their strengths. Remember the gap we had to goons home game. We got walloped the game before and had nearly two weeks to prepare whilst they had two tough games v BM. We came out as if we’d learned nothing from the previous game and got thrashed first half with our abysmal set piece defending and being countered.

The first half of this season will be massive, because I don't think the club or fans will allow a poor start
and they shouldnt. our form was shit after the chelsea game!

hopefully its turned a serious corner and he is a competent manager. but if he isnt, i hope hes moved on sooner rather than later and wasting a whole season.

the good thing is we actually have a decent squad of players bar the frontline, and in the hands of a competent manager it should produce good football and good results.

Oh give it a rest

We may be a better watch under him but we're never winning serious trophies with his tactics and our board
I agree ref the board , but they are staying and no manager wins with them as owners . That is why I am happy with Ange under Levy . Conte , Jose , Nuno under Levy was way way worse to watch and for zero success , also I didn’t just hate the football i loathed Conte and Jose as individuals.

I cant see him lasting. Hes been given nothing and will end up the same way as Conte, Mourinho, Poch and others.

We had the basis of a squad at end of last season, and needed a good summer to push on. Once again Levy does nothing.

You reckon Hojbergs worldie OG could have been coached out of him or Ben White's dark arts at corner's getting green lighted by the Ref are things that the manager is responsible for? That game was disappointing but your using the result to justify your fictional narrative not analysing what actually occurred and how the goals were conceded.

Agree. A lot is made (by some) of the "horror" run home of losing 5 of the last 7, but 3 of those were against teams in red-hot form; Chelsea coming off DWDWDWWD, Woolwich coming off WWDWWLWW, City coming off WWWWWWWW.

Yes the second half of the season was disappointing and yes the above is making excuses and yes the Fulham and Newcastle games were shocking. But the 2-3 loss to Woolwich (bitter rivalries aside) was not the low point of our season.

Err... we lost five out of our last seven games with mostly dreadful performances. Call me a bluff old pessimist, but it didn't exactly fill me with confidence. Nor has the lack of serious first team signings.
This season is a new one , in case you have not noticed!
And transfer window has yet to close, again just bringing to your notice!

Until he sorts out us actually defending the fucking huge open spaces in front of and behind our fullbacks nothing will change. Frustratingly it looks like he’s doing nothing about it based on the preseason games so far. So expect us to continue to concede lots of sloppy goals that begin there. Players will continue to get blamed but it’s the system and tactics that are responsible for it.

That’s is because we don’t have the players to play it in pre season. We are without Romero, VDV and Udogie with Dragusin only just coming back. Most high line teams have the same issue they just have the likes of Konate and Van Dijk covering and hard pressing midfielders. We play the likes of Skipp, Davies, they don’t have the legs to play this way.

As with all our managers from Conte to Poch to Ange the club needs to buy the players that fit the system, then the system will work. Some of that will be fixed when our defenders are back but we still need attackers who don’t lose the ball as often.

If we want to avoid this we can get a more pragmatic manager but pragmatic managers these days don’t win big trophies, they work with what they have better but they have a much lower ceiling.

TLDR: club needs to get its arse together and finish building the squad.

Give Ange time like Atalanta have with Gasperini, we’ll win something. I’m really excited about this sesson, I’ll reckon we’ll plough through Europa with our hungry youngsters and the way we play.
