That's not strictly true though is it? How many games did we win with late goals?

Having said that, I agree with your overall sentiment. Our overall conversion rate wasn't particularly bad at just under 10%, around 7th I think, but it was the quantity of moves breaking down in the final third that hurt us.

In preseason I commented that our final third movement looked faster and more frequent, but we still shipped goals because we lost the ball so often up front. You can excuse the Bayern game somewhat, because they were knackered, but we shipped quite a few to the K league teams, on fast breakaways, because we were losing it cheaply in the final third.

That's one of the reasons why I'd bring in Solanke and Chiesa. Both know how to keep the ball and recirculate, both are technical, quick and intelligent, and both know where the goal is.
We've also just played farmers until the Bayern game we lost.

Not sure how much you could take from the attacking performances (and many of the same old issues were on display despite the poor opposition).

That's exactly what I'm saying though. We just kept coughing the ball up , leading to counters. We're not recycling a move if it doesn't come off, we lose the ball more often than not.
