The first 3 performances have been nothing like the end of the season. That’s why it’s stupid to cling to that narrative.

I said playing these teams away. Apart from Villa we took 3 points from city,Woolwich,Liverpool,Utd,Newcastle and Chelsea. So out of those away games we took 6 points from a possible 21. Only 1 win at Villa.
I enjoy the way we play and don’t think we are a million miles away but we have no fucking balls to win at these places. Ultimately that’s why we are a 4th/5th/6th place club.
At home I fear nobody but it’s those tough away games that separate from being a good team to a top team. We are a good team but nothing else. This club is set up to be the best but sadly we are not.
We could have went and got pretty much any striker and a top winger and showed the intent to get better. I like solanke and Odobert but we go with data now rather than getting top players who turn those defeats into draws and draws into wins at these places.
I will call it now. Postecoglou won't be here next season.

But a “ rolling league position “ based on our last 38 games isn’t cherry- picking IMO .
It gives an indication ( nothing more tbf ) of where we actually are , in terms of progress, relative to those we have to be better than . 9th to 6th probably sums us up , over the past “ hypothetical “ 38 games .
Not relegation material; but possibly less than we should be achieving.
I’m sure Ange gets that and wants to address why we’re under par . I really, really hope he manages to do so .

If you take our worst run of form we might be relegation candidates.
The only league position that matters if the one after 38 games.

“Run of form”. You can selectively choose games where we only win and you can selectively choose games where we are in relegation form. You haven’t done anything smart by selecting a sample of games and assigning it a league position.
